It's sweetened with splenda and has 4g effective carbs per serving. :D
In other low carb news: Trader Joe has Hi-Lo cereal for $2 which is almost half of Safeway. Combine that with Countdown dairy product, and no need to eat eggs every morning ;)
TJ also has selection of low carb bread, and now low carb pitas. They still don't have that orowheat low carb bread that I like, but the cheddar garlic one is good.

How big is it? The Atkins ice cream is about the size of my fist, hardly a filler.

this is regular sized 1.75quarts. and it's $3.99 at safeway on sale (reg price 5.99)
I never buy any "Atkins" labeled stuff, except for that countdown dairy product, because it's always 50% more expensive than non Atkins labeled low carb stuff.

Does Hi-Lo use splenda also? Is it any good? And is countdown a decent substitute for milk?

Hi-Lo is not sweetened, though there is a version that comes with strawberries. Countdown is great. There is even 2% fat and chocolate countdown. I usually eat Hi-Lo with chocolate countdown. Sometimes when the store is out of chocolate countdown, I get the 2% one and add splenda to sweeten the whole thing. Haven't eaten eggs for breakfast in weeks.

Ice cream is not supposed to be a "filler." It's there to satisfy a craving for sweets/dessert.

I looked for the Breyers stuff at Albertson's tonight. It was like $5.99, and the Dreyers was on sale for $4.49 so I thought I'd try it first. Both are made with Splenda and claim the 4g of carbs. I got the Raspberry Vanilla Swirl.

It's okay. I like Splenda. It's the texture that bugs me a little, though. It's a little gelatinous... kinda gummy, you know? Aside from that, it's certainly passable.

I'll try the Breyers next to see if I like that better.

I have some Bryer's chocolate and strawberry in my freezer... Good stuff! Yeah, the texture is definitely not as 'creamy', but it's still very good.

I'm confused? What ice cream did you buy?

Yeah... I know there's Dreyers in North Florida, central Illinois, and Southern California. That makes me think it's pretty national.

They make Girl Scout Cookie flavors at some part of the year... right about this part of the year, I think.

What is this bullsh!t about measuring carbs in grams? Since when does weight measure how much energy the carbs have? I swear.. you Atkins people...

I'm going to drink 300 grams of water and go to sleep.

Perfectly valid, since all (normal) carbohydrates have the same calorific value (4Cal/g), just takes longer to digest some of the longer chain ones, like maltodextrins and starches.

Interesting thing is, when developing ice cream recipes for USA, calling something 'No Sugar Added', 'Low Sugar' etc. only takes into account sucrose, you can load it up with as much corn syrup, maltodextrin etc. as you like, probably ending up with more calories than standard stuff, as you have to maintain sweetness.

Yes, Dreyer's is often called Edy's - they belong to Nestlé; Breyer's is a part of Good-Humor Breyer's, they belong to Unilever - guess which one I work for!
