It was rumored that he's retiring because Tim Tebow is going to gain the majority of the ESPN coverage and #4's ego could not stand it.

Man I really really hope so.
This opens the door for the Packer even more in the NFC North.

Bullshit - he wants to skip training camp. He is "special", normal rules does not apply to him. Can't wait for him to throw pick on the last play, again ( and again, and again).

LOL! That's comedic gold right there.

My 2 cents, he's not retiring. But he loves the drama.

Isn't he like a few TDs to 500?

edit: just checked... 3 to go. He'll be back. :p

edit 2:may as well go for 70k yards while he's at it.

I cant imagine him not coming back. But I do believe this is his last season. After this season I dont see the vikings having the talent to make a legitimate run.

I find it very hard to believe he will not be back. He's just being coy.

Ahh, ESFavreN, how I've missed you. At least SC now has the side scrolling news items so I know when to turn the channel quicker.

Nothing to see here folks, He'll be taking the first snap on Vik's opening day.

The only thing that is going to make this guy retire is a DE wrapping his leg around his head.

I hope he's pulling our legs. Brett Favre is the last of an era of QBs that I'm not sure we will see again. Ego or no ego there is no denying he is/was good.

He just doesn't want to do training camp and pre-season games. So I agree with what's been said above. If it's the first game of the season and he's not on the field, then I'll believe that he's really retired.

That sucks. I just moved to the Twin Cities area and was hoping to take my son to a Vikings game with me considering this upcoming season, if he played again, would most certainly be his "last hurrah."

I suppose now I can take my son so he can watch Tavarius Jackson and observe how NOT to play quarterback.

Sidney Rice is gonna be pissed! Everybody thought he was a noname WR before Favre came. Now with Tavaras chucking the ball at people's feet, Rice is going to go back to his pedestrian numbers again. .......Unless Tavaras becomes the second coming of Aaron Rodgers. lol

why retire to unretire besides to be a drama queen. wasn't childress ok with favre missing a few weeks of training camp?

even the 1st week of the season you can not believe has truly retired. He can @ week 4 say I'm back.

only way brett quits is he dead that is all.

I don't believe it, but consider this:

If Favre retires, Childress will go back to his junior high level offensive playcalling and they'll have Tarvaris Jackson as QB. The Packers could lose Aaron Rodgers at any time, he gets hit a TON and has been injury prone. The Bears suck. The Lions could conceivably have the best offense in the division, and in the regular season offense = wins.

Clearly, living in Detroit causes mental illness.
