you want to see Brett Favre in Chicago, Bears fans, speak now or forever hold your PSLs. Stage a Favre-apalooza outside Soldier Field before Friday night's practice. Write your local McCaskey.

That's because barring a public outcry impossible to ignore at Halas Hall, Brad Maynard will not have to give up the shirt off his back ? jersey No. 4 ? for Favre.

Or as coach Lovie Smith put it Thursday when asked about a report speculating the Packers might consider trading Favre to the Bears or Vikings, "it doesn't affect us, we have our quarterbacks."

That would be Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton, who through nine days of practice are neck and neck-beard in the quarterback competition.

Neither Grossman nor Orton has been awful, but nobody has played well enough to make any gap between them obvious. Certainly neither quarterback has created a buzz bigger than the one caused by Favre, whose NFL reinstatement has been delayed until Friday at the earliest.

The bears are trying to go young. They need to develop a QB and Grossman is not that QB. Orton needs to be given a true shot at becoming the starter. Hell, he is 12-3 as a starter.

Orton is a statue.

Doesn't matter if the Bears get Favv reh (sorry, I refuse to pronounce this FARVE when it's clearly spelled favv reh). A. he's old and throws just as many INTs as Grossman. B. The /b/tards have no receivers to throw to nor running backs to hand off to. If the bears win, it will be on defensive takeaways and returns, just like how they got to the SB. C. Favv reh is the fucking enemy!

i agree. i have said for years they need to give ornton a shot. he got them to the playoffs (wich Rex came in and blew for them). his numbers are as good (i think better but not 100% sure) as Rex's.

i they brought in Farve though it would perhaps bring in more people wanting to play for the bears. it would also cut down on the many mistakes that plague the QB position now. Rex is just to unconsistant and does nto seem to want to put in the effort all the time.

Even if they got Favre, who's he gonna throw too? We all know Hester can't catch a down-field ball for his life. Marty Booker? ...

You'll need a lot of  to cope with this season Waggy. Stock up now. ;)

good to see people still giving rex 100% of the blame....despite having the worst O line, recievers, and RB's ever.
