Letting both of their starting guards leave in free agency w/o getting somebody decent was a horrible move.

And I'd like to know who these great recievers he's had through the years are....

Sterling Sharpe, Reggie Brooks, and Javon Walker??

The Packers past success was because of their strong offensive line and great running game. Now they have neither and all the pressure is on Favre. When your star WR is out for the season and your RB is done, what can you do? He has no protection!!

Oh... Go Jets!!!

Washed up??? Farve still throws the ball harder than any QB in the league.

Farve isnt the problem, its the 64 other guys around him.

He obviously is past his prime and can't carry the team the way he used to do.

I heard the Madden (or Al Michaels) say that he tried to step down sometime before, I think last season? But someone on the coaching staff convinced him to stay. I think Favre is the man, for the good of the team he wanted to step down and let someone new try their hand at QBing...

packers scored 29 points. if a team cant win scoring 29 points in the nfl, the problem is not the qb.

Robert Brooks not Reggie Brooks.

Favre should step down AFTER this year. Not during.

Plus, at the end of the game we only had half our starting offensive in the game.

Injuries, bad calls, bad secondary all add up. The offensive line did much better than past games and our defensive line is starting to look better.

But how the hell do you allow a wide receiver to drag your sorry ass 30 yards down field?

Maybe we can suck bad enough to get a top 5 draft pick this year.

Lastly, Favre didn't start looking good in the game until he took a good hit from a Carolina player. I swear someone needs to punch Favre BEFORE the game to get him playing well.

For truth. Want to know why the Eagles haven't gotten a ring what with all the tries they've had in the past few years? Want to know why the Pats have three?

It's quite simple: The Patriot defensive line is fully *psychotic*. It's like a pack of feeding wolves out there. Tom Brady certainly helps out, but he's not the reason they took 3 of the last 4.

Quarterbacks can't carry teams period, with the *possible* exception of Joe Montana, and even he needed Jerry Rice as a bullseye to make it happen.

Jim Kelly couldn't do it for the Bills.
Steve McNair couldn't do it for the Titans.
Favre can't do it for the Packers.
McNabb can't do it for the Eagles.
Marino couldn't do it for the Dolphins.

Simple fact of nature: defense wins games. End of debate.

Look let's be honest and look at the numbers here ok?

The defense has gone from 26th overall last season to 16th thus far this season.
They've taken nearly 20ypg off of the oppenents rushing and 30ypg from passing.
They are allowing about 1ppg less than last year.
And they've done this when put in really bad field position by both the offense and special teams nearly every series!

Now the offense on the other hand has had turnovers up the wazoo.
They have gone from 3rd to 21st overall in the league.
They are scoring only 18ppg and rushing for 70ypg!

The problem is in no manner, way, shape, or form the defense. They have stepped up and IMPROVED from last year. The problem with the packers is the offense. And I will go even 1 step further, the problem is with that moron of an offensive coordinator Rossley. Remember last year when midway through the season the Packers offense took off? Guess what happened, Sherman took the play calling away from Rossley!(because he went to the hospital, but hey it worked. He was there again like a week ago, why not just keep him there...please?)

The man couldn't coach his way out of a cracker jack box and I really wonder how long it will take for them to realize it. Yes they have lost players on offense, but have you actually looked at some of the play calls during the course of a game? I mean, not really smart quite often and pathetically predictable. You can make up for losses on the offensive line if you give them help with the play calling and he isn't.

My thoughts, but I think the Packers problems are really completely opposite of what everyone seems to see.

Sharpe was done before the super bowls, and I believe before Favre was ever MVP.

Robert Brooks was hurt almost the entire super bowl year and only had one other decent year after that.

Antonio Freeman dropped half the easy passes that came his way.

Javon Walker has only had one good year.

He has never had a crazy playmaker or annual pro bowler like Randy Moss or Terrel Owens.

Favre is a GOD in Green Bay. He puts asses in the seats. Why would you bench him until he benches himself? That would be career suicide for any coach.

Favre has NO supporting cast at all.

INTs? Ummm when your defense gives up countless points a game the game falls on your QBs shoulders. He was always known for forcing stuff, but now he has to do it even more to try to play catch up because the horrid play of the entire Packers defense.

He has no offensive line left to protect him or open holes for Green (who hasn't been the same since his inury(ies) and suffers from the same decimated O-Line.

Did you even watch the end of last nights game? Favre had THREE WRs left to throw to, 2 were 2nd stringers, and he still almost single handedly pulled off a miracle come back. I think he threw to 11 different players last night. Not bad with 3 wide-outs on your team.

Favre is not as good as he once was, and certainly isn't going to be around much longer, but I think most coaches would still kill to have him as their starting QB.

he had 303 yards, 4 td's last night.. that's pretty darn good.. he's definately past his prime, but he's still better than any other qb than they have, and aaron rogers can learn a lot from him watching from the side lines, even if he is losing it..

Ha ha, same here, put of 36 points to carry me to the lead. I dont think he sucks that bad, the rest of the packers just suck. Comon he threw for 300 yds and 4 td's, thats not half bad.

I don't blame Farve for the Packers' offensive troubles, the offensive line should be responsible... they are just horrible this season! No protection for Farve, and no blocking for Green

Its not Brett Favres fault that his team sucks. This is just a rebuilding
year for the packers anywayz. Give the team a couple years and they;ll
be contenders again

Well it is suppose to be Favre so isn't it a good thing that the ratio is 2:1?

I suppose it's a fine thing that 66% of the members here spelled his name correctly. :p

The 4th quarter last night was impressive, the interception was also not his fault. He has done many boneheaded things in his career, but I don't think they have a better option. Besides 4TD, 1 int (not his fault) is a good outing for any qb.

Packers just suck.
If you put Philip Rivers on the Steelers they'd do that. The best QB in San Diego is the backup.

So a guy that hasn't started any games in the NFL is better than Brees who is a Pro-Bowler last year and seems to be doing just fine this year?? LOL
Yes. Brees had a fluke year last year. Rivers was better in college, and is better right now than Brees.
That's the reason one of them is going to be traded after the season. Rivers is too good to sit.
There are always guys on the bench that are better than the guy starting in front of them, they just need a chance to play.
Look at Willie Parker at Pittsburgh....he is better than either Bettis or Staley, but if they hadn't been injured, nobody would have ever known.
Very common thing.

You are smoking crack if you think a QB with no NFL experience is better than a pro-bowler.
