Breathing, In through Nose out through mouth, or vice versa?

Through your dam nose and out through your nose also.

Why? Hairs in your nose stop small dust particles entering your lungs = better for you.

Through your mouth is not so good for that reason and after a while it will start to dry your mouth up faster then if you had it closed.

Yeah, you gotta keep your mouth closed a lot of the time, too, or you'll drool the fsck all over yourself.

Yes, cilia is your friend. 😉

Also, when the weather is cold breathing through your nose gives the cold air a bit longer to heat up before it's drawn in to your lungs and is easier on them.

Ok this thead definately needs a huge 800x600 pixel one of these:

This is actually an issue worth noting IF you are in a subzero climate. If not, then you are officially diagnosed as a DUMBASS!

for you i would recommend to just stop breathing, its obviously too complicated

I keep trying but every time I stop, I pass out and wake up and sure enough I breathing again.

Proper breathing, as in the way we would breath after being born is in through the nose into the stomach and out again through the nose.

Breathing into your chest is called habitual upper chest breathing and isn't natural. It's a habit we develop as we grow older. Like when we learn to hold our breath and when eating etc.

It increases anxiety, hyperventilation and difficulty breathing, sometimes chest pains. There isn't any thing deadly about upper chest breathing is just doesnt alllow the body to relax.

Wow, there are some real dopes here. This is a good question, and at least there have been some good response between the 5th grader comments.

The part about "belly-breathing" was particularly good. Have you ever watched, say, a pro cyclist in action? Take Lance Armstrong, for example. You will see him purely belly-breathing while on his machine (it's most obivious in cycling because the cyclists wear tight clothing).
