Code:
https://breakingxstore.com/product/amd-ryzen-5-1600-processor-with-wraith-spire-cooler-yd1600bbaebox-2/
Someone sent me this link via Skype, and it seems rather suspicious.
Doubly-so, because I just clicked on the link in Skype, and it opened the URL (second time I've been there), in Firefox Nightly, which was already open, but then I get this little overlay window with a progress bar in the middle of the screen, "Firefox Nightly is installing updates".
I've only ever seen that window, when closing and re-opening the browser with a pending update (which is, BTW, still showing pending), or if I manually select to do the update, then the browser CLOSES, before showing that little window.
I've never seen that window, on top of Firefox, WITHOUT CLOSING.
Which makes me think, that's an exploit site.
It seems like a maybe-fake webstore, and if you click the link, click "Home", then "Shop", it shows a bunch of items, but none computer-related.
This link was supposedly from a banner (ad?) from Slickdeals, although there are no deal threads about it. So, random web banner ad, for a malicious URL, designed to suck in computer enthusiasts, maybe?
If someone else has "great shields", or a VM or something, and they want to check out that link, can you tell me if it's malicious?
Also suspicious, is the page says the ad expires in 3 hours, but it said the same thing, like 8 hours before when I went there.
Edit: I clicked on the pending Firefox Nightly update manually, and the browser closed, but then it didn't re-open. I manually opened it.
I really hope that this is just some weird Firefox Nightly bug, and nothing else.
