Someone sent me this link via Skype, and it seems rather suspicious.

Doubly-so, because I just clicked on the link in Skype, and it opened the URL (second time I've been there), in Firefox Nightly, which was already open, but then I get this little overlay window with a progress bar in the middle of the screen, "Firefox Nightly is installing updates".

I've only ever seen that window, when closing and re-opening the browser with a pending update (which is, BTW, still showing pending), or if I manually select to do the update, then the browser CLOSES, before showing that little window.

I've never seen that window, on top of Firefox, WITHOUT CLOSING.

Which makes me think, that's an exploit site.

It seems like a maybe-fake webstore, and if you click the link, click "Home", then "Shop", it shows a bunch of items, but none computer-related.

This link was supposedly from a banner (ad?) from Slickdeals, although there are no deal threads about it. So, random web banner ad, for a malicious URL, designed to suck in computer enthusiasts, maybe?

If someone else has "great shields", or a VM or something, and they want to check out that link, can you tell me if it's malicious?

Also suspicious, is the page says the ad expires in 3 hours, but it said the same thing, like 8 hours before when I went there.

Edit: I clicked on the pending Firefox Nightly update manually, and the browser closed, but then it didn't re-open. I manually opened it.

I really hope that this is just some weird Firefox Nightly bug, and nothing else.

Their about us says they are an online retailer in Los Angeles but their contact us says their store is in UT.

Why are you even seeing ads? Why would you click an ad? Blocking ads is just basic computer security. Until sites, advertisers and stores start to care about you and your privacy, security and financial info block their ads.

The whole ad will expire in three hours is just a way to get you to think you're going to miss out and not hesitate. It's no different than a car salesperson telling you someone else is interested in the car you're looking at.

It's also a good practice to go directly to a site and look for the item yourself rather than click a link. I do this all the time at slickdeals. If they have a special price that you can only get from a link I click the link, add it to my cart then I open a new window and go to the main site and then log in and check out. Don't be a low hanging fruit for scammers.

I've also made a complaint with BBB and just today received full refund due to "insufficient" stock. Apparently what they're doing is advertising products at very low prices but I have yet to hear of any order fulfilled.

"Thank you for choosing Breakingx. We regret to inform you that your order has been voided due to insufficient stock. While our website may have indicated an in-stock status, one or more items in your order were not in stock at the time your order was to be fulfilled.

We targets a 2-day turnaround for most orders; therefore we do not backorder any items. Your out of stock order was voided, and your account may not have been charged. If your account has been charged, please allow 7-14 business days for the funds to be refunded to your original form of payment. We invite you to subscribe to the auto-notification feature if available on the product page. You may also want to search our site for comparable items.

Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter. We sincerely hope that you will consider placing an order with us again when your desired items are back in stock. If you have any questions, please contact us."

Breakingx has done the same thing to me. Insufficient inventory and never receive my my refund. I contacted the BBB but they can’t do much neither. Maybe if we filed a class action lawsuit then we might be able to get somewhere. They have stolen a lot of people over the years and I refuse to let them do this to someone else. My email is brandibecker78@icloud.com if anyone else is interested in pursuing this matter
