Unconfirmed reports of second shooter, possibly in custody - It is looking more and more like reports of a second shooter are false. There was a man picked up nearby wearing dark shirt and camo pants. Currently this man is not believed to have been involved.
Dead shooter identified: Adam Lanza (reports say suspect killed his mother at the home they shared in Newtown, CT and then went to Sandy Hook Elementary School where he killed staff and students)
Suspect's older brother (Ryan Lanza) now in custody. Ryan says that Adam was autistic (Asperger's) or had other personality disorders. Ryan's ID was found on the shooter's body
I would like to just take this opportunity to point out the atrocious state of journalism in this country. Everyone is tripping over themselves to be the first to report details without properly vetting them. There are still articles on Yahoo that claim there were two gunmen FFS. This is a much larger concern to me than the safety of our schools or the need for more or less gun control.
To give an idea of the massive amount of misinformation from reliable media sources:
Some sites were still reporting that there were two shooters more than 8 hours later
For a few hours it was reported that the older brother (Ryan Lanza) was the shooter
Numerous false reports that Ryan had killed his father and even a second person in his father's home in Hoboken
Numerous false reports that one or even two bodies were found at his mother's home in Newtown and neither were his mother.
Originally mother was believed to be a teacher at the school, then believed to be a substitue teacher at the school.
First the mother was killed at home and then the mother was killed at the school and then the mother was killed at home again.
