Fox News’ Megyn Kelly wants you to know that Santa is white. And Jesus, too.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus because Fox News says so.

The discussion broke out after Alisha Harris wrote a piece for Slate with the headline “Santa Claus should not be a white man anymore.”

Harris, who is African American, writes about her confusion as a child in seeing a white Santa outside her home and a black Santa inside.

Her solution:

Two decades later, America is less and less white, but a melanin-deficient Santa remains the default in commercials, mall casting calls, and movies. Isn’t it time that our image of Santa better serve all the children he delights each Christmas?

Yes, it is. And so I propose that America abandon Santa-as-fat-old-white-man and create a new symbol of Christmas cheer. From here on out, Santa Claus should be a penguin.

A penguin? Sure, she writes. Making the jolly old elf a penguin removes any trauma over his race, and plus, kids love penguins.

After all, we do have the Easter bunny and Rudolph.

It was all too much for Kelly who told kids that “Santa just is white.” And though no one asked, she added that Jesus was white, too.

We’re glad that’s settled.

We all came dangerously close to the WAR ON CHRISTMAS.

We do have to wonder whether a Bethlehem-born Middle Easterner in his native garb would have a hard time flying in the U.S. But that’s for another time for the folks at fair and balanced.

OK...I don't have a problem with the concept of a white Santa...considering the origins of the tale...but I also don't really have a problem with having a black Santa for the colored kids. Lets them feel more included...but Jesus was white? 😵

That should explain why so many people think the religious right is off their collective rockers.

Also, pretty sure we're not allowed to say "colored kids" any more. The proper term according to the memo I received is "kids of color". Prepositions have rights too, y'know.

I mean, it is a historical fact that someone names Jesus existed around the 0's in Israel and was crucified by Pontius Pilate. but it's presumed that he was some shade of brown/olive skin tone.

My grandchildren are "kids of color," yet I refer to them as colored kids...What color are they? Grandson brown.

Historians have almost all agreed that "Jesus" would have been at least "olive skinned, or brown or even black...definitely NOT white.

"Jews" or at least those Jews who are native to the region, are certainly not white...it seems to be only those from caucasian countries such as eastern Europe who appear to be white.
 
Jesus was most likely a brown dude. He lived in the middle east 2000+ years ago. Back then, there was basically no european (white dudes) living as hipsters in the middle east. Therefore, Jesus = brown dude. Now, where is my award for being a genius, Fox News?

White is more than skin tone, it's whether the bank will give you a loan without government backing - or insistence. It's whether your hair will hold a pencil. It's whether a swanky hotel makes you use the back door instead of the front door. It's pretty much any artificial construct used to gain an artificial advantage over someone else.
 
Yeh, I remember as a little kid looking at all of those pictures of Jesus in those bible study pamphlets, brochures and weekly sermon programs and I do recall some of them had Jesus with blonde hair, some with brunette and a few with black hair. But in every one of them Jesus was plainly pictured as a caucasian. It wasn't until I grew up a little more that I was told he was a middle easterner and more than likely looked like a typical middle easterner.
 
If Jesus existed he would have been Semitic, not Caucasian. The historical figure that Santa is based on was from what is now Turkey, possibly ethnically Armenian, almost guaranteed of an olive complexion, most definitely NOT white. Megyn Kelly is an idiot. She's on Fox News, which is a repeat of my previous statement.

Lets think about this. As you move further north humans lose melanin in their skin as an evolutionary adaptation. Santa lives at the north pole. Hard to get any further north than that. Santa should basically be an albino.
 
Keep Santa white, make the elves Latino, and darken the reindeer.

And Mrs. Claus is Asian. Sort of a mail-order deal.

Caucasian doesn't necessarily mean white as used in popular vernaculer. Arabs and Persians are also Caucasian and most ordinary people do not consider them to be white. Jesus would have been dark tan in color. Not fair skinned as is the popular portrayal. As pointed out the original origins of Santa Claus would have him the same way. Santa claus is turkish in origin. Basically the popular portrayal of both Jesus and Santa Claus are completely wrong wrong. They are Caucasian but both would have very dark tan complexions.

Considering that almost all the toys are now made in China...shouldn't the elves be Ornamental...and Mrs. Claus Scandinavian? (some hot blonde Swedish broad (maybe twins) to keep Santa warm on cold winter nights?)

Harris is a complete dipshit, my guess is she says these kinds of stupid things to try and drum up ratings, kind of like Ann Coulter said stupid things to get people fired up and talking about her. Christmas penguin? Yeah, why don't you go ahead with that, I'll stick with Santa at our house, a jolly old fat white guy with a white beard.

Saint Nick was not a Turk. The character which he became associated with was a figure in Scandinavian and Germanic legend, and both peoples were white.

Well several bible scholars and historians have found evidence contrary to what you just stated. In fact there has been more and more evidence being found that Roman aristocrats manufactured Jesus Christ.

I also find hilarious that anyone still watches and listens to FOX News. You lose IQ points just watching that show...LOL

Santa Claus doesn't exist, and who gives a shit if people want to make their own version of a Santa Claus.. oh yea, I forgot radical right wing christians think there is a war on christmas.. sigh.
