Breaking News: Obama and McCain are TIED

Good news for us Republicans, but I'd rather wait for the two big tracking polls to come out after this weekend to get a real picture of where the race sits.

I expect we go back to a tie or Obama +2 or 3

I want to see more data about the public's reaction to Palin and family. I'm guessing the whole "Chistian sinners" thing will be popular with the bible-thumpers.

McCain would have been a lot closer had it not been for Palin. Liberman or even Huckabee would have been a fine pick. As is, he's not going to get any independents with Palin, and that's the election.

And other polls conducted on the same days have Obama up by 4.4, 5, and 7 points. Unless people were wow'ed by McCain's speech, Obama still has this in the bag.

You understand the concept of a tracking poll?

It takes 3 days for them to register a shift in voter opinion. Palin just gave her speech last night so we need two more days of polls to even see if she moved the polls.

The gallup poll, Obama +7, was done almost entirely before Palin's speech.

It will take at least 4 more days before we a clear picture of how things stand.

I have to believe McCain will receive a bump after the Palin speech, but my guess is that two weeks from now Obama will still be up by at least a couple of points, and his lead will increase through the course of the debates.

At this point it's clear that the polls still show Obama winning pretty easily, but we have to wait until 3-4 weeks to see how much the debates change things. Conventions only have so much impact. Barring major gaffes on either side, statistically it's looking like we're going to have easy blue victories in the Executive and Legislative branches. No excuses for liberals after that point, Bush can only be blamed until January 09.

With things being really close like this, it seems the debates are going to be the deciding factor. They've both had their convention etc, the Palin pick has generated some buzz on the McCain side (both good and bad), and things still look like they are very close. Whoever looks best in debates is going to pull this out. Of course, lefty's think Obama is going to have no trouble with McCain in a debate, and righty's think McCain will beat Obama in a debate.

News Flash:

Presidential Elections aren't decided by popular vote

Right now, Obama looks way ahead in the electoral college

If by way ahead you mean the final election will be determined by the results of a handfull of states who have poll results generally to close to give a favorite along with a 3 month period till the actual day of voting error.

I predict they will claim Bush's policies fucked up Obama's administration through the first 4 years. Then go in denial mode full bore the last 4.

Or so the media would like you to think. McCain doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell. Nice of them to make it look interesting though. Gotta love the political drama they put on 🙂

The same could be said if McCain wins. Who ever wins is going to be handed country that's been run poorly for the last 7+ years and will have their hands full just trying to unfucked it.

Breaking news? Super duper important? Polls at this point mean very little, there's too much time for things to change still.....

That is 100% truth. It didn't get screwed up overnight and it's not going to get fixed overnight either.
