Give it a rest dude. Your posts make you look vindictive and ridiculously petty.

I have to have a football team to make fun of, and since Del Rio got canned by the Jags, I've been searching for one. For awhile, it was the Cowboys but picking on Romo is so 2010. Therefore, I think the Redskins do nicely! I wish the Colts could rescue Ryan Kerrigan from them, though.

I wouldn't give up all hobbies yet. With how the Colts are playing, they will only play that first week. =)

They're honestly lucky the season isn't a couple games longer because that might have been enough to knock them out of the playoffs.

Oh, and my condolences to anyone who happens to get Jeff Triplette as a ref in their playoff games. Good luck with that buffoon!

The season is way more than half over. He honestly should have been benched for the remainder of last season after his first injury. That first injury made him much more susceptible to injury and well he did get injured and had to have his right knee reconstructed for a second time in 3 years.

While the Nationals took flack for their decision to bench Strausburg his rookie even though they were going to be in the playoffs, here it makes sense as Washington is not going to make the playoffs. There is nothing to gain by playing Griffin and everything to lose if he gets injured again. A third reconstruction and a second missed off season would more or less cause serious problems to his career going forward(which basically means Washington flushed all that guaranteed money down the toilet). He regressed tremendously from year 1 to year 2 because he missed the entire off-season. He will regress even more missing the second off season.

I get that. My point was it's pretty big news when a player of that magnitude gets benched. Add in the fact that the owner and coach seem to be feuding and the press will always play it up. "Drama" or perceived drama will get more press.

I prefer a simpler explanation - they're more likely to win playing Kirk Cousins at QB for the rest of the year, and "reduced risk of injury to RG3" is simply a convenient bonus. Plus, if Cousins pans out they might be able to trade him for something of value.

Referenced raven-vikes going techmo bowl, finally got around to reading kings monday article and he had this breakdown.

125 Seconds of the Year: Here. Go to Baltimore. Look at them. Minnesota led 12-7 when it all began.

Quarter Time left Touchdown Score
4 2:05 Dennis Pitta, 1-yard catch 15-12, Ravens
4 1:27 Toby Gerhart, 41-yard run 19-15, Vikings
4 1:16 Jacoby Jones, 77-yard kickoff return 22-19, Ravens
4 0:45 Cordarrelle Patterson, 79-yard catch 26-22, Vikings
4 0:04 Marlon Brown, 9-yard catch 29-26, Ravens

First 57 minutes: 19 points scored. Last three minutes: 36.

It was crazy to watch. There was definitely some questionable calls by the officials including replays that may have been botched. But that's how it goes. I think taking the officials out have having some sort of sensor ball and field with immediate instant replays would take away from the game.

You almost won Vikings, don't know why you would want to go and do that.

Wait, so Goodell is on ATOT and he must have read my thread. :awe:

I think each game should have its one dedicated "oversight" official. They could challenge any call at any time and are separate from the on field officials. I don't believe a centralized place would be good, as there is just too much going on at any one time and that would rely on the on field officials deferring to them.

One guy, in the booth, with access to every camera feed. Next to no cost, speed up the game, and get the calls correct.

Easy peasy.

There has to be a limit as to what calls they can review. Holding? No way. Something like anything 15 yards or more is subject to review. However, the problem comes when there is a running clock near the end of the game. Do you stop the game, so they can review a call, potentially giving a team the advantage? If you have no timeouts, and are running the 2 minute drill, giving them an extra 20 or 30 seconds to swap out players and think about the play is a huge advantage.

As far as the reviewing of the plays already being reviewed, centralizing it won't do much. The same mistakes can easily be made. Having a few different eyes look at it might curb some of the mistakes, but unless we have some technology that can detect exactly where the ball is at the exact time a runner is down, it will never be perfect.

Hey, at least you'll have something to do while the rest of us watch our playoff teams. 😀

I have plenty to do in "real life" outside of internet forums and football which is quite obvious by your post count that you don't.
I think you're just jealous people in DC have a better quality of life than the cesspool you happen to live in.

Lol! Comparing DC to any other city, and then calling said city a cesspool is rather humorous. DC has a higher violent crime rate per capita than Indianapolis. The national average is 3.9 per 1000. DC is nearly triple; now Indianapolis is also nearly just as high. But, one of those cities houses a large group of a few hundred guys who are regularly caught with prostitutes and drug addictions; that same group also gets to decide what I am allowed to do and how my tax dollars are spent.

DC Area, Fairfax, Arlington co. to be more specific. Best schools, jobs and some of the healthiest people in the nation. I can go to the beach in 3 hours and mountains in 1 hour. So yeah, compared to indy, it's fucking paradise. Plus, McOwned lives in Indy so that's good enough reason to stay far away.
I grew up in DC and got the fuck out asap.

What the hell are you taking about? If there's a flag, the clock stops. Do you even watch football?

The NFL refs can see very well, they see to it that the Patriots get the calls needed to win a game, not always, but just enough.

Yes, the refs made the Browns to not get the ball on the onsides kickoff, so afterwards they could make the PI call for NE. And with almost a minute left on the clock, NE probably wouldn't have scored from the Browns 30 even if the PI wasn't called. :whiste:

I've been trying to take it easy on Smacky.

He seems like he really likes the game, he also really likes to discuss it. He's just not always spot on with his observations. But at least he is a fan!

I think my ideas were getting jumbled up and I meant something else. I was probably thinking more along the lines of what happened to Washington where they didn't want to stop the play to fix an obvious mistake by the officials.

I am against more reviews unless it can be done in a timely fashion. Perhaps, if the ref throwing the flag can communicate to the review board before the play had stopped (in the event of a hold) and they can confirm it or have some commentary if the referees decide to confer.

The problem is it still comes down to a judgement call such as 'was the ball catchable by the receiver'?

Yay thursday night is coming! Boo eastern time-zone and early Friday meeting...

This! I have a goddamn meeting moved to today and until 5pm, which means I am going to miss at least eh first 30min or so.

Probably going to wander over to the local bar and catch it.

My work decided it would be a good time to have the holiday party tonight. I don't plan on attending. The last thing I want to do is hang out with a bunch of people I don't know instead of watching football.

That's what you get for setting your clocks to the wrong time :colbert:

I hate having to wait for you west coasters to wake up when I need something.

Well that's piss-poor planning. Who thought that was a good idea? Obviously not a football fan I'm guessing.

I like how when I roll out of bed on Sunday, football is on! :awe: And the day is not a complete waste (Well, it usually is; but it doesn't have to be.)

I think the objections to more reviews are mostly fear of dragging the game out much longer, when I think it would not impact it as much as most people think.

As is right now, every one and their mothers see the replay of a penalty more than once before it's even called on the field. So if there is a replay committee, they would see the same thing and would only intervene if the wrong call was made. That doesn't take any longer than 10 seconds, at most.

How often do you sit there, watching the replays, listening to the commentators, watch a commercial, or two, while waiting for the ref to come back with the verdict for a penalty and the guy totally blew it? Yeah, the review committee would prevent that.

FTFY. Detecting ball location should be relatively easy. Determining when and where a player is down or out of bounds is much more difficult.

The refs actually do a damn good job of ball placement and calling a player down. Considering how many things are going on and how fast they are happening...they do a good job of that.

Its the other BS that needs fixing.
