from autoweek:

Based on the same rear-drive platform as the G35 sedan that went on sale in the United States in mid-March, the 2003 2+2 coupe gets an extra 15 horsepower (275 vs. 260) and an optional six-speed manual transmission that isn?t offered on the sedan. Infiniti gets extra horsepower from the same 3.5-liter dohc V6 engine primarily through exhaust tuning.

While the coupe shares the sedan?s 112.2-inch wheelbase, it is shorter overall (182.2 inches vs. 186.5 inches) and lower (54.9 inches vs. 57.9 inches), but wider (71.5 inches vs. 68.9 inches). Seventeen-inch wheels are standard, with 18-inch wheels on the ?sport? model.

The coupe goes on sale this fall, starting at under $30,000

All i can say is WOW!!!! Nissan is back baby!!! First the new Z, now this STUNNING coupe, next.. GT-R baby!!

You must sleep with someone in the auto industry to get all these awesome pictures. 😀

Keep em comin! 🙂

heh. notice the spiffy yellow gauges, and the different driver's seat.. man.. Nissan is making it tough for my new car decision.

325i, 350Z, G35 Coupe, or Audi A4?

One thing is absent from the pics: a sunroof! One better be available as an option!!!

Sign me up for a 2002 G35 Coupe with sunroof, premium sound, and HID lights!

Pffff, why's the 325 and the A4 in that list? Get something with some balls, the 350Z/G35 will be so much better 😛

The 325i and A4 have NOTHING to prove. They are already class benchmarks in the entry-level luxury market. The new G35 and 350Z are the ones that have to prove themselves. So you saying that they will be better means nothing until they are actually on the market and you test them back to back. More than likely, nothing will ever be able to touch the balance of the 3 Series.

Very true. Lexus has come close with the IS300. Audi and Mercedes still can't figure it out. Close is of course no cigar!

<< What a great-looking car! This seems to be the best-balanced, most handsome design yet from Nissan - I actually like it better than the Z. >>

I agree, the new Z looks too chunky

I'm talking in terms of performance (hence my mention of which car has more balls), so I still stand firm that both the Infiniti and the Nissan will whip the Audi/BMW offerings.

Yo,
Am I the only one that thought this Infinity (which is Nissan's upper division) coupe was the new Nissan Z car?

Straight line performance isn't everything. Camaros have "performance" but they don't handle that well. BMW are the only vehicles that have a near perfect match of handling and performance across the entire product range. They remain the benchmark in EVERY class.

I'm not speaking in just straight line performance, but something tells me that the 350Z will outhandle a 325i that's geared for luxury. True the handling might match the performance, but just remember how slow they are. That's like saying a Honda CRX has a good balance of handling and speed, but it's still slow 🙂 I don't think that anyone would doubt that the 350Z would handle a 325i out on the track.

If the G35 coupe oversteers like a mofo, of course the 330ci will show it who's boss. Of course, bringing out the M3 would make it a no-contest!

the dash/instruments looks too 1980's for me.. like an 80's Corvette.. but otherwise looks good. like the headlights

I dunno, looks great for sure, but I wonder how it will handle. I've driven many japanese and german cars and the German cars "feel" better. I really can't explain it adequately, but there is something that does not show in the numbers. Keeping an open mind though. I'll probably rent one when I get the chance.

A 330i can hit 0-60 anywhere from 5.9 to 6.3 seconds. that is by no means slow. The G35 sedan won't be much faster (if at all) witha 5 speed automatic (6-speed won't be available until next year).

Anything else? 😉
