Would people really want Hillary as opposed to Thompson (or any other candidate for that matter)? If Hillary wins the Dem nod I will have to vote for her opponent no matter who it is. No, it's not because she is a woman. It is because she is a Clinton. No, it's not because she is the wife of former President Bill Clinton that I am against her, it is because I am tired of the same two families being either VP or President of our country since ~1980. If she wins that will be 30+ years of Bush's and/or Clinton's in the White House consecutively. I find this to be unacceptable. We NEED new blood. I don't even care about a new party at this point.

Just another uber conservative nut, IMO.

Yah, I'm sure you educated yourself on his viewpoints as you were trying to hack his website

Yes, I've read up on his history, and his political views. What the hell "hacking" are you talking about?

Please humor me by eliciting some of his "uber conservative nut" viewpoints?

You don't think it's Freddie's job to get his own damn word out???

Maybe if he wasn't so unbusy not running he could have been in the GOP debate like the rest of the canidates? Like McCain said, it must have been past his bedtime.

Why? They've all spent a ton of money already and he hasn't spent anything. Now he gets to come in with free attention on himself due to his late arrival. He's already ahead of the majority of those who have been running since the beginning.

Great strategy imho. Screw the people who decided that the Presidential election needs to start 2 years ahead of time. I don't blame him one bit.

Great strategy to skip the debate? Would it have cost him much to have anounced a few days sooner so he had time to be in the GOP debate? Or was he just afraid to be in it?

Why would anyone be afraid to be in those debates? The current debate format is stupid. We need more one on one debates and less of this panel response crap.

Thank you. Now at last I can say I have the same question. Who the F is Fred Tompson?

Excellent points. Fred's raised a pretty substantial amount of money for not being in the race the last few months.

I too would like to see a new debate format, but don't count on it.

Why would ANYONE vote for this guy?
He's all container with nothing inside.
Just shows how bad things are, how lost this countries people are, and gullible.
Fred Thompson... really? You MUST be kidding, or ready to be institutionalized.

DOn't ask me, ask Fred. He's the one who missed the chance to get his word out.

He missed the chance to get his word out? Ha! Who else have you been hearing about over the past couple of days more than Fred Thompson?

Lots and lots of things.

The only interesting thing about Thompson is he has garnered so much support without actually earning it. I suspect it's the same bunch of dittoheads supporting him that supported other phonies like Rush Limbaugh. Some people never learn.

Right now the Republican field for Pres in 08 consists of Ron Paul, a one closet social moderate with delusions of grandeur, and something like nine candidates trying to be just like GWB and just itching to tap into all of his 32% popularity.

As one of the crowded nine, Fred Thompson has one advantage all the rest lack. Namely, insert one, be it hero villain, cop, attorney, or virtually anything else, and Fred Thompson has the been there done that proven experience of playing that role on television. A marketing formula copied from GI Joe action figures and all the various Barby doll manifestations.

On a more serious note, I think Thompson has every right to run a Presidential campaign the way he sees fit. And to pick his own times. If his strategy offends anyones expectation, its his risk in terms of lost votes. And in the combined 2008 Presidential field, Fred Thompson is going to have a very very hard time being more unethical or more idiotic than anyone else.

How does one 'earn' support exactly? Obviously Fred knows how to do it better than any of us or he would already be counted out of the race for his late entrance to the fray.

His cheap tricks may fool you, but not me. He's as phoney driving around in his old red pickup pretending to be a "man of the people" as Gore is when flying around in a private jet to sell his "carbon credit" plan.

He may walk the walk and talk the talk, but I think he's a phoney. If the GOP nominates him they deserve to have there collective asses handed to them.

We have been hearing this for years now. What we really need is a new party to pop up because frankly I'm tired of both of them. No matter which way you go with these parties it is extreme from left to right. There is no such thing as a middle ground anymore in this two-party system.

If Obama is nominated then I will probably vote Democrat. If Clinton is nominated I will vote Republican.

If I could pick the Dem nominee, I'd pick Dodd. For the R's I'd choose Ron Paul. That's make for a very interesting race IMO.
