sabotage through reckless behavior is still sabotage.

you almost have the makings of a good conspiracy theory except you fail to address: chances are, they won't make up for the lost volume of sales with the increase in price.

maybe you don't understand how selling things works, but you need not only a favorable price but also a favorable volume in order to make money, and BP just lost a ridiculous amount of volume.

and this ever stopped the greedy in power from worrying about the almighty dollar first exactly when?
this area has a history of bypassing saftey and workplace standards when they can get away with it.
money talks......

Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004 BP AMOCO Plant Fined $63,000 Following Chemical Release and Fire in Texas City, Texas

"BP Amoco had the experience and knowledge to prevent this accident, yet allowed hazardous conditions to develop," said Charles Williams, OSHA Houston South area director. "OSHA will not tolerate this disregard for worker protection."

You were saying something about me being a conspiracy theorist?

Looks like possibly 20 deaths
http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/...50323_jt_plantexplosion.16869c0b7.html

But the reporters on TV quoted the Medical Examiners as estimating a possible total of 20 deaths. Many injuries, from minor to quite severe. A spokesman from UTMB (University of Texas Medical Branch: the closest high grade ER) said injuries indicated fire, explosion, buildings collapsing & "orthopedic" injuries. The latter probably caused by what survivors interviewed called "running away." (A sane reaction.)
The BP plant supplies approximately 3% of US crude refinement.

A non union shop of Texan greedy employee-exploiting saftey-slackers BIG surprise.
(No listing of the plant in the Texas AFL-CIO)
seems BP thinks $$$ is above saftey for workers once again this year with another plant expolsion, when will workers wake up? 🙁

would be funny if this was a terrorist strike - the first, and right in the heart of bush's state

that would be very, very...interesting 🙂 muhahahaa

I mean, I know the anti-bush crowd is full of hate but its hard to believe anyone can hate that much. its scary that people like you have a right to vote.
At least your an honest liberal.

so I'm automatically a bush supporter because I don't like people that find it funny when people are killed? You may want to consider not assuming too much, at least you'll appear to smarter than you are.

He may be wrong about bush's hometown but americans dying who were not doing anything but going about their lives is fuxx0red.

There goes Texas City's quarterly plant explosion... I swear each of the past three quarters there have been explosion at various plants down there.
This plant alone has had 3 major incidents involving employee death in the last 12 months (including this one), and has paid in excess of $100k in OSHA fines. I think this is an issue of an old outdated plant that badly needs to be replaced, but unfortunately whacko leftists like Steeplerot have made it so a new refinery hasn't been built in the US for 25+ years. Is it any surprise that we are now having problems like this running 100% of capacity in old outdated plants?

Regardless, I think the effect on gas prices is that where we were just poised to see them go down a little, now they will spike up a little and then remain flat (barring any new news).

Have you forgotten that gas prices broke $2/gal in the spring of 1999?

I wish gas was $12 a gallon to keep roads empty. Almost got killed last weekend at glamis by some fools with thier homemade buggy. Get the price up up up will keep riff-raff off the roads and recreation areas and lead to cleaner air.

Meanwhile the price of everything else goes skyhigh. Yeah!

the person in the story who was babysitting and had her windows blasted in and is sick now I would consider working class.
The refinery workers know they are a target and hopefully have a union to keep the money men from getting lax with saftey regulations.
-but then this is yee-haa Texas were talking about who knows?
"We don't need none of dem dere commie unions to keep workers safe here in Tex-BOOM!"

TX = right wing run state = union unfriendly =big money oil men making mad bling at the expense of the workers and safety
More of the same from texas, the state of rich energy mogul rapists with a free pass to do as they please

just more ignorance showing from the bush apologists and kool-aid swillers
 I'm glad you're so familiar with chemical processing safety as to think unions have anything to do with it. I guess you had to make an anti-conservative rant in this thread somehow if you were going to post. If you want to call me ignorant on these issues, feel free. I'll be more than happy to embarrass you. We just had a seminar on such things today, so it's even fresh in my mind.

That's an envitability since Oil won't last forever...

I think it's doubtful that we'll run out in the near future, but that's not to say that we should just wait for it to happen.

But I find your motives odd, raise it to $12/gal because one dickhead can't drive? Makes sense...

Nice to see you threw in the pro-environment argument so it looks like anyone who disagrees with you is in favor of raping Mother Earth.

It's amazing how many idiot truly exist on this forum alone.

The name of the union that represents hourly employees is PACE. I work at a large refining/petchem plant in Baton Rouge and I can say first hand that whatever accident happened at the BP plant was not a conspiracy to raise gas prices or a terrorist attack.

Some of you sheeple need to back away from your keyboards and explore real life a little.

But that would cause their perceptions of the real world to be flawed. Can not have that.

I Never said it was any sort of conspiracy nice job trying to put words in my mouth.
But it is a poorly maintained plant that has been found to not take care of their maintaince and been found to be NEGLIGENT IN WORKER SAFETY once again for you dishonest folk or those too lazy to read from OSHA Itself ONE year ago.

60k fine is a joke they should have shut this fat-assed texan plant down before it blew again.
but then you sheeple would have to get off your ass for once..can't have that now can we?
