The problem isn't the cereal, it's the parents. A bowl of Sugar Smacks in the morning isn't going to turn your kid into a 300lb diabetic.

Forget the marketing BS. The reason cereal is popular is because kids can pour their own bowl so parents don't have to cook anything for breakfast. If cereal took as long to prepare as eggs and bacon no one would eat it.

Doppel, this is an example of an issue with the right's public policy views.

It's one thing for 'the science to be established' that there is too much sugar.

It's quite another for the public policy issue of too many children eating too much sugary cereal causing big problems to be affected by 'education campaigns' and such.

It's a little like science saying tobacco is bad for you in the 1950's (?) but it taking decades for 'education campaigns' and other measures to reduces smoking much.

When there's an anti-smoking ad campaign you might say 'we've known that a long time', but that doesn't help that much - the campaign might save lives.

Don't worry, your savior's healthcare plan will soon put restrictions on sugary cereals, I have no doubt.

The ads on the boob tube keep the kids just bugg'n their parents. Hell, I remember buggn' the crap out of my parents for Sugar Frosted Flakes - They're Greaaat! With Tony the Tiger and all that crap. My parents would just give me corn flakes and when they turned their bad I'd throw a teaspoon or 2 more on my corn flakes. Voila, Sugar Frosted Flakes!

LOL, I did the same and that shit was awesome, especially the sugar at the bottom of the bowl that you would scoop up and eat after all of the cereal was eaten.


BTW, I just had a large hot chocolate (using chocolate syrup) and a huge banana muffin. Probably twice the sugar of a bowl of cereal. OMG, I"M GOING TO GET DIABETES! OBAMA SAVE ME!!!!!!!!
