Maybe Flynn is willing to give damaging testimony. But the people with the power to grant him immunity should be careful how they handle this situation. Right now they have something that Flynn seems to want. That gives them leverage to try and get to the truth of the matter. They shouldn't just give up that leverage without knowing what they're getting in return.

You think a few months is a long ass time? These investigations usually last years before indictments are handed out. The FBI will probably be investigating Trump for this and other things for most (or all) of his term as there are so many different aspects of it.

So far this has been moving very quickly and I'm sure you would admit, pretty badly for Trump. I don't believe there has ever been an administration in this much trouble this quickly.

IMO, if Flynn really had the goods on anyone higher up the food chain, and was willing to give them up, the negotiations for him to testify would be going on in private. He would let the investigators know what information he had, then work out a deal for immunity, then testify in public. By making the offer the way he did, no investigating agency would agree to it. They're not going to give him immunity until they know what he has to say. And making the offer in public looks like he's trying to force the hands of the FBI and congressional committees; which is a sure way to piss off the very groups he should be making nice with to get a deal done.

man, you must have no patience. If there is a real investigation happening, which seems likely, then it requires months if not years to properly gather evidence, vet the evidence and sources, connect the dots before anything becomes public. The last thing you want to do is to let criminals and weasels snake away for lack of proper diligence.

Your belief that "real evidence being made public instantly" alludes to some nonsense idea that TV investigations are like real life. I doubt that you or I are on any sort of need-to-know priority in such matters, so there's a very good reason that we are not made aware of the facts of the investigation.

That's what most people are doing. That being said, having your national security adviser who resigned in disgrace publicly seeking an immunity deal barely two months into your term is truly astonishing. Like I said, he's been able to get himself in an amazing amount of trouble very quickly.

This is weird as I've seen very little 'foaming at the mouth'. Most left-leaning people on here (with a few exceptions of course) are all about taking a measured approach even in the face of ever-increasing 'smoke' about the whole Russia issue.

This is in marked contrast to the last eight years under Obama where conservatives were going absolutely bananas at every imagined shadow they saw, even though those shadows were FAR less serious than colluding with a hostile foreign power. FEMA camps, confiscation of guns, birtherism, secret muslim-ism, martial law, etc. And before you claim those are all fringe ideas, check out polls examining what percentage of conservatives believed things like birtherism or secret muslim-ism. Conservatives could stand to learn a lot from liberals about how to foam just a bit less.

Well right, but that's because there simply isn't the same amount to be seen. Having nearly half of Republicans believing that Obama was secretly a Muslim and about 40% thinking he wasn't born in America is not even remotely similar to liberals being outraged that the president is under active investigation by the FBI for espionage. Only a fool would try to equate the two.
