'Breaking' a Verizon Contract

So, my current phone is on my parents family plan.

I have had it for a few months now (like 7) and am able to take it over and transfer it in to my name.

However, I don't like the phone much, damn battery life, it's a Droid Razr.

I want to transfer it in to my name, but at the same time create a new contract and upgrade to the upcoming iPhone.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Not sure about splitting a family contact, you'd have to inquire with Verizon, I think. I know they usually don't take kindly to breaking a contract that early, but all my experience is with individual contracts.

Regardless, you should wait until the next iPhone is actually announced and the specs are known before you commit to anything. Research and fact finding is good.

What have you been experiencing for battery life with the Razr?

Razr battery life varies...

I have the good old '3g/4g shortcut' app. and if i stay on 3g, it can last a full day no issue.

if i stay on 4g with normal use, its done in 4-5 hours (and normal is VERY light).

it also all depends what i flip on/off etc. I normally stay on 3g with gps off but data and syncing on.

i just hate that I cant use 4g and have the phone last a day of normal (in my world, which is LIGHT to most) use without having to plug it in.

Razr has good battery life. You must live in an area with bad reception.

He didn't specify, I wonder if it's a RAZR Maxx? If not, I could ser battery life issues.

Have your parents call Verizon and tell them they want to authorize your number to be released. That will let you set up you own plan.

By the time the new iPhone will be released you'll only have had that line a year. The contract change will still have the lines current upgrade eligiliibility. Prepare to shell out some $ for a new phone.

how did i not specify?

If i had the Razr MAXX i would have said Razr MAXX...

Dude, nothing personal, calm down. A lot of people use the RAZR to mean the Maxx variant as well. Was nothing else in the post helpful?

calm down?

how did you take that as me attacking you?

jesus it's text, not someone actually talking...
