Breakdancing is on its way back (I hope)

I'm seeing it more in videos (Coldplay, Black Eye Peas, etc) and there are even a few clubs in the midwest (Chicago, Cleaveland) where they have some serious break dancin nights. Hopefully if this catches on again it will squash some of this ridiculous bling/gangster/thug crap thats so popular these days.

Bring back the REAL hiphop!!

wake up
breakdancing never died
it's only now getting to be 'not cool' again, because nerds on BBSs are hip to it 😛

Really, I was pretty into it years ago, Nucleus, Grandmaster Flash, Roxanne Shante period, EARLY 80's, been going to clubs ever since, only seen it recently again and don't see it declining, if anything, just getting bigger....

Please don't call it breakdancing... correct term is bboying. 😉 None of the bboys or bgirls I know are gangsters/thugs, and breaking has been nothing but a positive influence in their lives.

I strongly disagree, a few years ago trying to find a place where people were breakin was virtually impossible now its a lot of places that have breakin nights. I'm not saying that it went away entirely but it obviously was'nt mainstream anymore, now its kinda cool again ar least from a pop culture standpoint.

Attempting to bgirl at the moment, actually. Working on my tops and footwork in LA... are you down with the scene at all?

😱 so you're a b-girl, my mistake

I'm into the scene here in Chicago, my younger brother and I have been working on some footwork routines. This summer I want to start practicing suicides, they look pretty ill if you can execute them right. I'm also hoping to get into a little production and Djing later this year.

You guys on the west coast are lucky, the Bay area probably has the best underground hiphop scene in the world. Most of my favorite groups are out west: Black Eye Peas, Blood of Abraham, Hieroglyphics, Planet Asia, Peanut Butter Wolf

NorCal's B-Boy scene is always hot. You can't go wrong when you got Style Elements crew representing. Crumbs is one of the best in the world, can't deny that. Anybody in SoCal know about the B-Boy scene down here?

Dope. Actually, the Bay area scene is big, but not nearly as gigantic as the scene in Los Angeles. O_O

Heh. The on-again-off-again b/f is in Style Elements... I'm going over to Remind's house on Friday to help edit a video w/Flave and Asia. Crumbs/Donny is one of the best, if not THE best, in the world right now. He has a TIGHT pad in the Hollywood Hills... pool table, pool, everything. SEC practices there pretty often... do you bboy? Do you ever go to Hope in Hollywood or Juice?

Since when is it called bboyin and not breakdancing? Thats what the guy on the cardboard and his buddies said those many years on ago in NYC.

I thought it just died... 😕 well at least around here anyway... or maybe that's because i'm not in high school anymore and no one does that stuff at clubs that much. all they do now... is c-walking... 😕

*shrugs* Bboys are offended if you call them breakdancers... it's like an insult. Evolution of the language, I suppose.

BBoy = "Break" boy.
