Depends on the type of body armor, type of pistol, type of rifle, and distance. If I had a choice, I'd much rather be hit by a .22lr rifle over a .357 magnum handgun.. I personally watched a .357 tested on body armor from approximately 15 feet - trust me, you don't want to be on the other side...one piece of tested material did withstand the bullet, but it still penetrated too far into the clay backing. The other vest...lol, take a look. :Q

Distance tested from - link

Here's me, btw.. :D

I personally find it rude that so many people that do not live in the area and do not *PERSONALLY* see some of the stuff going on here in the open feel the need to comment and criticize so heavily. You step out of your door, pump gas (ever seen someone sway to make themselves a moving target while at the pump? Its funny, but not *that* funny), go into the grocery store, leave work at an odd hour, etc every day thinking "Is it my turn?" Then listen to someone that is about a 14 hour drive (the time it takes to get from my house to about Joliet I believe) talk about how the cops and fbi are basically worthless when all that person has seen are clips on the national news shows and a story or two on the net. It makes you feel good about things. Trust me.

Since your viewing things from a different vantage point, I'd love to hear how the FBI and Local police investigations have differed from what's been portrayed in the national media... seriously.

Since you obviously think the authorities are doing a less than adequate job in finding this freak, perhaps you'd like to lend your suggestions for finding the man that nobody has actually seen, who strikes from a football field away, & scurries away before anybody knows what happened?

We're all ears.

Viper GTS

Not my job... I've got $2500 deduction on every pay check that allows me to criticize them. I can tell you this, the way they have handled this investigation up to this point is a JOKE. Releasing composite sketches of a white delivery truck and a Chevy Astro van. Nice use of FBI resources... How many vehicles matching this description do think are floating around the DC area?

CH2

0, most of them are either blank or have the names of companies on their site, not whatever was written on that one...

Have you seen a close up of that picture?? It says "Unknown Words, Unknown Words"... so your answer of 0 is correct... Link to better picture

I havent paid all that much attention to the news (there hasnt been a lot of coverage on it) but I do know a couple of things. First its tough to go a couple blocks without seeing a cruiser in Manassas. Second, the tip line is very easy to get through on, they will listen to your tip (even if it is a little whacky ), and they will stay on the line with you for several minutes if they need to. No, its not perfect. Yes, if you are an expert at finding these people we could use some help. But without seeing the fact there are cops all over the place its kind of wrong to say nothing is happening.

Thats what I thought it said. As far as vans/trucks that come close to the descriptions provided, there are no less than 10 on Balls Ford Rd (where the Manassas shooting took place).

Well Viper, like someone pointed out on Foxnews, Charles Moose is not suited to do this job. His department is not setup to handle homicides of this nature. He needs to get some top detectives from either DC, NY, LA or Chicago and tell the FBI to get lost. The FBI wants to pretend like they can catch murderers in Urban areas but almost every serial killer case theFBI touchs they fvck it up. He needs some homicide detectives and to get more information out to the public regarding descriptions.

It's not that Charles Moose is not suited to do this particular (difficult) job, it is that he is incompetent as a police chief. He used to be the police chief here in Portland and he sucked so bad at it that we rode him out of town on a rail. I do hope they find this psycho, but it would probably go better if the case were in more competent hands.
I'm sure glad I don't have to pump my own gas now though.

I'll admit that my sarcastic approach in starting this thread was in poor taste. I'm in no way trying to belittle what the residents in this area are going through. I honestly feel for you guys. And you are correct, I'm only getting information from the vantage point of sensationalized media... I failed to see the value in the vehicle sketches that were labled a "break through"... as a matter of fact, they almost seemed like a joke. Because of that I lashed out... my appologies to all of you personally experiencing and living this. The rest of you a-holes on the other hand... you can suck it ;)

Can you elaborate on how his incompetence manifested itself?

He was a poor manager, virutally all the cops in the police dep't. hated him and morale was low. Terrible at public relations. Portland tends to be a bit to the left ;) and protesters, including children and bystanders, were often beaten and tear-gassed for little to no reason, even when the "protest" was just a non-violent bunch of speakers at the square.
Believe it or not, the black population here hated him the most. They finally marched down MLK straight to his house one day and protested right in front of his house that he be fired. Couple of weeks later, he was off the MD. Good riddance.

Well, we've had no such problems here, but then again, we have different standards for "brutality", what with Prince George's County right next door (they're on Amnesty Intl's sh!t list). As for whether the cops in his dept. hate him, I wouldn't know.

What I can say is that I don't think there is much that can be done that isn't being done already, given the nearly complete lack of any evidence.

i'm being picky, but why is this the virginia sniper case.. isn't it dc metro area....
That's okay... we can all share.
