So I've been working in the lab until 6-7 pretty much nightly for a couple weeks but today went home early. GF and I went to the store when we get back the apartment below us has the door kicked in, we rush up to our apt and it looks like they attempted to pry our door open as well but failed. Anyways after calling cops and dealing with that (turns out nothing was taken from the apt below). Now I'm freaked out, any idea what the repeat rate is on something like this?

Ugh, just glad my GF wasn't home alone when they came by...

They'll be back in a few hours. Have your baseball bat handy to bash some heads in.

I doubt thew perps would return to this area due to heightened alert. The "It can't happen to me" mentality has been removed at this point.

Take the puny screws that came with your strike plate and replace them with 5 inch long suckers that go into the studs. Someone would shatter a leg before the door gave way.

...or at any rate the door will get to break instead of just the doorframe.

I doubt that the theives will be back- I hope not anyway.
