Anyone use one? What do you have and what do you wish you had? My wife thinks we need a zojirushi. I'm wondering if it's really worth twice what other name brands are going for.

No one needs to tell me that making bread by hand is better, cheaper, faster, slower, costs less, costs more, or is in any other way superior to a bread machine. There will be a dedicated piece of equipment for the task.

I don't use one but what your wife is considering seems to be much superior to other makes. I bake bread often enough and had to give up the kitchenaid because I'd just keep breaking it. Dough is tough on machines. I went with a Bosch Universal mixer, but if I used a bread machine I'd go with the zoji.

My wife bought the Zojirushi 1 lb bread machine about a year ago. It makes perfect bread and is easy enough that it actually gets used 3 or 4 times per month. I have been forced to take back all of the nasty things I said about it when it first showed up in the house.

It's the only bread machine we've had so I can't compare it to anything. It's a cute little bulbous thing and seems worth the $200 if it keeps working.

I received an Oster bread machine as a gift like 3 years ago. I use it quite a bit and haven't had any problems with it at all and quite like it.

Zojirushi lasts over 10 years. You simply scrub the cooking element surfaces when it gets a bit old.

I remember my mom making bread in one and it being freaking amazing when hot and fresh.

I have an ancient bread machine called "The Bread Oven" by WELBILT. It's at least 15 years old. My mom gave it to me when she upgraded.

It's not as fancy as the newer models, but it gets the job done. Think I will be making some bread this afternoon too.

We've got a Zojirushi 2lbs machine and it gets used regularly. Also makes good pizza dough

Looks like it's going to be the zojirushi. I love fresh baked bread, and home made pizza.

Now she's talking about one of those blenders that you fill with garbage and it turns it into drinkable liquid. She claims I'll be able to drink the 23 servings of veges I'm supposed to have every day.

My mom had one. I know she made raisin bread in it and something else. Maybe sourdough? It was great. I have no idea about brands or anything, but the one she had couldn't have been that expensive. Doo eet!

Blendtech or Vitamix?

We have a Vitamix and it's great. Loud as hell...like a 747 on your counter, but it does a great job.

I've got a Panasonic 2502 and it's been great.
Copes with a great variety of bread flours and the yeast dispenser means that you can set the timer and still get great bread every time.

All I know is, I am in the market for one. I've done some reading and the general understanding I have is that a basic machine like a Breadman TR520 is more than adequate. And they are like $60-70.

Panasonic Bread Machine that gets used once a week for the past 2 years. No issues with it.

My mom used a really basic bread maker that she got like 10 years ago and it still works. I don't think it was very expensive. I probably wouldn't spend that kind of money on a bread machine unless I knew I was going to make bread a lot for the next several years. I borrowed my mom's bread maker for a few months and rarely used it so in my case it wouldn't be worth it.

Buying something like this can be a little like buying a gym membership. You think you'll use it constantly, but once you get it, you find yourself using it less and less. Better to not get too deeply invested.

I dont have one but I would love to go get on. My moms used to make bread all the time and that stuff was the bomb.

Ours gets used more than daily.

We use it to make brioches and fruit breads for breakfast and loaves of savoury bread for lunch box meals and general eating.

But we have two kids that love home made bread and knew we'd get some heavy use out of it. I would have bought a cheaper one otherwise.
