Well, I would say that picture captures San Onofre pretty well.
Have to wonder what the designers of those domes were thinking
Winner Miguel Pupo with the 20 ounce 14 Karat Gold Railroad Spike he just won.
This year the event was DOMINATED by Brazilians - 6 out of 8 Quarterfinalists were Brazilian, the winner was Brazilian.
In the old days (10 years ago), not many pro surfers did airs in competition. Nowadays, especially when the waves are small, every other scoring wave has an air. Pupo's event-winning wave had 2 airs, nothing spectacular because the swell was dying off.
That guy is one of the San O locals, Kolohe Andino. The competitors ranged in age from 17 to 38 ... Taylor Knox from San Diego being 38.
They call it Trestles and go with the railroad spike motif because you have to walk across or under the train-track to get to the beach. It's a super popular SoCal beach. Parking is something else on weekends.
