Brazil Ejects Bolsonaro and Brings Back Leftist Former Leader Lula

What's scary is the vote %. It wasn't a resounding rejection.

Bolsonaro just barely lost (if he loses at all).

But no different that it’s here in first world nations, rural areas generally right leaning. And Brazil has a lot of rural areas

It also helps if the people aren't stopped from voting like they were in many Lula stronghold areas

Brasilian politics are another level of fucked up, first there was the politician that threw 3 GRENADES at policemen coming to re-arrest him, then they have this crazy psycho

plus the whole deal where Bolsonaro related a story about he felt chemistry with a 14 year old girl and followed her into what he thought was a brothel

just another level of fucked up than we are used to (so far)

Brian Winter,

More incidents such as these may in the offing. What I think is more likely are hired gunmen or mercenaries being recruited to terrorize the poor.

Thank you, once again, for the link, Muse.

Bolsonaro hasn't been heard from since he lost, holed up in the presidential palace, only thing he's done publicly is unfollow his wife from instagram

It was almost razor thin. Bolsonaro has made claims of voting machine fraud and irregularities but investigations have always shown the claims to be spurious... according to that NY Times article, and Bolsonaro appears (at least so far) to accept the results.

Better than an insurrection

If Bolsonaro tries what Trump did back in Jan. 6, I'm thinking things would be much worse than what we experienced here in the USA. It seems Bolsonaro is deliberating on whether to pull off an insurrection or other such acts of treason based on how the situation with his supporters are developing. He just might do it if things start to look favorable going in that direction. Like Trump, another fascist emperor in the making.

It seems what Trump did has set a precedent around the world in other democracies, especially those that have a more tenuous grip on their version of it.

Brazilian court rejects Bolsonaro's election challenge AND orders him to pay ~$4M for bad faith lawsuit
