I realize the OP never made the claim the movie was anything other than fiction but if you have any heart for the true history of scotland I can't seen how you could enjoy this movie.

I will mention I'm 1st generation american from scotland (My father is from the highlands)
I once enjoyed this movie but after learning a minute detail of history I can't view this movie as anything mroe than hollywood tripe to earn a few investers some money.

He has been extremely faithful to Catholicism since before his Mad Max days. His level of faith has not changed. Merely the media focus on it and his ability to finance a movie about Christ.

you must have missed his dad's comments on jews. that hasn't been mainstream catholicism for a very long time
