Don't think CC sells AIWA products but MSRP on it is $349.99 - crutchfield has it for $299.99 and one other site online had it for that price - that other site I didn't save the link to because it didn't use SSL :(

Reason I mentioned Circuit City is because Aiwa's site mentioned that they were a retailer for their products and it happens to be 2 miles away ;)

I wouldn't trust any Aiwa product. Especially for car audio.

The brand that can play any cdr's and properly burned cdrw's is Pioneer. Their decks will play anything! Any other company is iffy. For example, some Sony and Alpine decks WILL play cdrs, while others won't. If you wanna play it safe, go for a pioneer deck.

my experiences:

-Denon - could play all media
-Alpine - 2 years old - plays everything - Imation, Maxell, Sony, Kodak,Memorex and generics
-Alpine 6 disc changer - same as above
-Alpine - new model - has some problems with Imations and others, plays about 70% - some problems with media on Yamaha 4x and Teac 6x.
-Sony - older model approx 3 years - could not play anything
-Kenwood - 50 % play rate using the above named media; not recommended by many...

The Sony something-5000 plays them fine. Usually just look on the info at the store or ask the salesman... they'll bust out a book that says if it does or not.

You could carry some music on CD-Rs and CD-RWs of the name brands you will use to try on the CD player. I have had no trouble carrying audio CDs to car stereo and home stereo store to tryout. That might just be local thing, but any place, that will not let you play your own music when judging a CD player, is suck and does not need your money.
