It's going to be a mass marketed car - V6 towards the high school/college kids, GT towards the performance crowd. Yea, 5-10K over MSRP sounds about right

It will be hard for GTs to sell ..

No. Way.

No car made in that kind of volume, in America, will sell for anywhere near that much. It might sell at or slightly below sticker, which is still a premium on an American car, but no way will people have to pay nearly as much as you suggest.

Think back to the introduction of the Mazda Miata and VW New Bettle...neither of those vehicles were made in limited quantities, yet both of those easily went for 5K over MSRB upon release. This new Mustage will easily go for 5K over MSRP

MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYBE for a GT, but sure as hell not for a V6 model.

4 door of 2 door, it'll be nice either way.

I still disagree. I can't recall any mass-produced American car in decades that sold for $5K higher than sticker on its release. The PT Cruiser was the most-anticipated all-new American car I can recall in the last ten years, and those sold at or near sticker when they were released.

I don't recall people paying anywhere near $5K over sticker for New Beetles or Miatas, but I can't honestly say I was shopping for one. I know both cars were available at or below MSRP within a year of their release.

Those were never produced in anywhere near the volume the Mustang will be. I don't really consider that a mass-produced car in the same sense (though I admit that is purely my own choice of terminology - it's not like they are especially rare).

Official pricing not out yet, but:

http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=19&article_id=7691

$18K for V6 coupe MSRP and $28K for a V8 Convertible. (About $2K off for a non-vert I'm guessing) The GT only offers around better than Mach1 performance (I'm guessing) - there's no way in hell it's going for over $5K over MSRP. The 03 Cobra's did when they first came out because they're 390 horsepower. The GT will not sell for over $5K MSRP. It will be top of the line when it comes out, yes, but you only have 2 models: the 6 and the 8. There's no premium to be had on it. Maybe if it's in very short supply in certain cities, but that's doubtful at best.

hmmm
that WRX could be fixed. I imagine if you dry it out, its just gonna be another salvage flood vehicle 🙂

The absolute last thing you want in a sports car is a long wheelbase. And since the Mustang does not need interior space to be optimized there's no point in pushing the wheels to the corners.

It's wheelbase is 107". That's pretty damn long.

After seeing those pics all I can think about is the movie Risky Business where Tom Cruise is sitting in the Porsche dealership (after having the car fall into the lake) and the repair shop guy comes out and goes, "Who's the U-Boat commander?"
