Brand-new ViewSonic A90f+ and the screen flickers at 1152x864 at 85 hertz...

This monitor allegedly handles an 85 hertz refresh rate at 1152x864, but occasionaly I can make out horizontal lines. On top of that, there appears to be static (unmoving) lines across the entire monitor.

I've removed my stereo and speakers (a simple Sony microcomponent system), and the light that would sit next to the monitor. I've even unplugged the monitor from the power bar and plugged it directly to the wall.

What gives?

Running a monitor at it's maximum supported refresh rate often results in this...especially on lower end monitors like the viewsonics. Back off to 75Hz and see what happens.

Move it out into the center of the room and see what happens when it's away from walls (and particularly the electrical cabling in the walls). My experience is that this model of Viewsonic is touchy about being near AC power cabling.

I exchanged the monitor for the same model. No longer is there a black dot present, but the wavy lines are still visible at 1152x864, but not at 1280x1024. Why would there be issues at that resolution?
