FYE and other Transworld Corp. stores are offering the Playstation 2 for $149.99 with a $30.00 mail in rebate, bringing the final cost down to $119.99. This is a great deal and the cheapest the Playstation 2 has been offered thus far! Deal is valid through June 9th.

oooh, tempted to get another one since the tray won't open on my current one.

And there's an FYE just 5 minutes from my home.
 
on the phone with fye at my mall now.. the guy has no idea about the rebate, keeps trying to tell me to buy an xbox with rebate, i'm supposed to call back when the manager is in

50001 is the s/n clerk on phone gave me.. he said they have the ps2's with harddrives for 99 bucks?

he's confused, i'll storm in there after work when their manager is in and clear up the mystery
 
Couldn't resist the temptation. The FYE near me has cardboard display advertising this. I now have an Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2.

No, not similiar.

Modding a console usually means adding a modchip that allows you to boot copies of games, play divx/xvid avi's off the disc or the installed hd in the console and stuff like that.
 
If you open a PS2 or Xbox, you void the warranty on the console. So if you better know what you are if you don't want a $120 paper holder.

What's interesting is that my brand new PS2 warranty was a whopping 90 days. I modded it within that time, 90 days is not a warranty that I would fuss over because the only real threat to a damaged unit is really modding it (or physical abuse) and I seriously doubt the unit will break down from internal hardware issues in 3 months.
 
I was about to buy one yesterday when the clerk said if I waited til tomorrow (aka today, the 10th), I could get a $30 rebate. I told him I was getting it then because the offer was ending that day. Fortunately he still had the old rebate forms.

Anyway, it seems like the deal has been extended from the 10th until the 30th. And I saw another sign saying you could get a free DVD (had SpiderMan and Pitch Black on the sign) after rebate with PS2 purchase. Of course from the Sony studios....

Didn't check if the other consoles had their rebate offers extended, though.
 
Deal still on. Got one today in Boynton Beach, FL. Mine (Black Box) came with Network Adapter and some off road game. $149.99. $30 mail in rebate deal good until 6-30-04. Ape Out.
 
Could someone do me a favor an post a scan of the rebate form that includes a free Pitch Black DVD? My store only has the form with the free spiderman movie. Thanks!
