Brand new inspiron 530 upgrading CRASHED

So I bought a new inspiron 530 desktop that came in the mail yesterday. I decided to remove the stock psu and replace it with a corsair 650W power supply. Also, I added a radeon 4850 hd as a video card upgrade. Powered it on and everything worked!

So yesterday night I played some TF2, which ran perfectly, decided to call it a night, and turned on bit torrent for some nighttime downloading. I turned off my monitor and went to sleep.

This morning when I woke up the system sounded to be running fine. However, I turned on the monitor and there was no video signal. I was clicking the mouse and keyboard and it might have responded, I'm not sure exactly, but still no video signal.

So i manually restarted the system and when it turned on, the mouse didn't light up and there was still no picture on the monitor. I'm at a complete loss for what happened to my computer overnight, it powers up fine but literally nothing works, all the fans are running and power seems to be running to all the peripherals just fine.

What did I do to my computer? Are there any cables that might have come loose that could cause this issue?

PLEASE HELP!

1. Double check all of your connections, and reseat your vid card.

2. If that doesn't work, replace the original components to see if the system still works. If so, it suggests the problem is with the new PSU or vid card.

3. If that works, try replacing one item at a time. If it doesn't, you have a warranty issue with your new machine.

I don't know if your new vid card will require the bigger supply, but the vid card is easier to swap so try that first.

Good luck. 🙂

Update: I've been doing a little detective work to see what part is faulty. I unplugged the six pin pci-e cord from the psu to the video card. Then I plugged in a vga cable to the onboard graphics card. With this setup, the computer works.

So, this is definitely a graphics card problem right? Unless someone tells me otherwise, I'm getting an RMA from newegg. If it is the graphics card, what causes this? It worked for a few hours at least before it kicked the can. Does this happen often or was it something I did?

Thanks

or it could be the psu isn't enough for the video card? or the 6 pin connector is/went bad is there more than one to try. but you're right it sounds like a bad card, if it died is was under odd circumstances thats for sure.
