Brand New Computer Problems

My core components for my new computer are the following:
3500+
TwinX1024-3200C2PT corsair set to T1 2-3-3-6 dual channel
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Seagate 200GB 7200RPM Barracuda 7200.7 SATA Hard Drive
Geforce 6800 GT

I have updated all of my drivers and bios. I have also changed my bios settings to the above ram timings. However I am having 2 problems. The first is I think with my harddrive. The seagate drive is making a chirping sound when used hard, I mean this isn't a normal sound atleast that I have heard before it sounds like a freaking bird. Also I went to access another partition on the drive and my system essentially froze for 15 seconds, this has happened twice now. I requested an RMA from newegg but wanted to make sure that this chirping isn't normal and the lockups arn't from my ram or something since I really don't want to be without a hd in my new computer for a week while I send this one back.

My second issue or more of a question is are there anything things I should configure on my mobo related to the geforce to optimize it for my computer? Also are these ram timings correct? When I boot up it actually lists them as 2-3-6-3 but I assume that is the same as 2-3-3-6.... Thanks for the help.

Does the other partition happen to contain a large media file that Windows Explorer would try to generate a preview of?
