Just got my BFG 6600GT OC AGP

Playing half-life 2, 1024 x 768 High 4xAA on my rig (see sig) is fine, around 60 fps, good enough for me.

Other games I tried, NBA LIVE 2005, Tony Hawk's Underground 2, A-ok, good graphics.

Problem is the games i play the most, Doom 3, Call Of Duty, are not working properly with the new card. First these games have an auto detect hardware option, and both detect to the values that my old card would have gotten. i.e. 640x480 medium in doom3, and some bull$hit in call of duty too. Could this be a driver not cleaned properly from my previous graphics card? This issue appears to only in OpenGL games, like quake3 and the two i mentioned. Any help? thanks

If that's the only problem you're having, then you're not having any problems.

Doom3 and it's ilk are often very conservative in auto-detecting. Also, I think they have trouble recognizing the raw speed of the 6600GT. In either case, if this is your only "problem" it's not a problem at all... just set the game to whatever settings you want and run with it. I have a 6600GT myself and run Doom3 a heck of a lot faster then the recomended settings... par for course.

Well You're right. Doom 3 I ran at 1024x768 2xAA 8XAF at about 65 fps with no problem. But Call Of Duty and Medal Of Honor Pacific Assault Totally blew, I cannot get them to run properly. MOHPA actually plays worse than my older card, i don't know whats the deal with that, and Call of duty does like 60 fps., which really bothers me, because i know it should easily be over 100 fps.

So change the values.

Make sure vsync is off. Also MOHPA really needs a fast CPU and card and even then it doesn't run that well.

yep
MOHPA sucks major b4lls...why you are even playing it is beyond me. EA cant make a game engine that works on even the highest end hardware satasfactory, so theres your problem right there.
as far as COD goes, make sure vsync is off

Call of Duty seems to be maxed out at 60 fps no matter what. (even at like low resolutions, with everything low)

I tried typing "com_maxfps 200" but it has no effect. However setting "com_maxfps 12" works, it slows down the frame rate.

I fixed the vsync, but still capped at 60. any ideas? maybe i need to get a patch or something?
