Branch to the Seahawks

They had a balanced offense last year, too. I'd say adding Branch is better than Juravicious last year, but overall their offense still takes a hit with the loss of Hutchinson.

Branch is a completely different caliber player than Juravcious. Juravicious is not as great a reciever as he looked like last year. His entire career shows that last year was either a fluke or he was just in the right system at the right time (i.e. everyone was playing the run against Seattle). Branch is on a different level.

I already said Branch is better, but its not like they didn't have a passing game. When healthy Jackson is a very good receiver, and Juravicious/Engram/Stevans had good years. Plus they lost the best guard in football, which hurts both your passing and running games.

Don't get me wrong I still think they have a great offense, I just don't think they're THAT much ahead (if at all) from where they were last year.

Only time will tell...if Seattle finishes near the top again, so its a lower 1st round, and Branch keeps raising his level of play, probably. If Branch was a product of NE's offense or they suck and finish with a top 10 pick, probably not.

I think so. Branch is a legit #1 reciever.

Yeah, you aren't likely to find a WR of Branch's caliber in the mid-to-late first round. Even then, it takes a WR a couple of years to really come in to his own (if he does at all).

Exactly. Even if a guy is a great college reciever does not mean he'll be great in the NFL. Branch has already proven what kind of player he is. No, he's not great, but he's very, very good.

The Seahawks where ripped of big time, 1st round pick for Branch? and a $39 million dollar contract , $23 million in the first 3 years of the deal? ouch... especially for someone with career stats like these...

YEAR TEAM G REC YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LOST
2002 NWE 13 43 489 11.4 49 2 22 0 0
2003 NWE 15 57 803 14.1 66 3 40 0 0
2004 NWE 9 35 454 13.0 26 4 27 0 0
2005 NWE 16 78 998 12.8 51 5 51 0 0
Career 53 213 2744 12.9 66 14 140 0 0

That's a lot of faith...

It'll be interesting to see how he does in Seattle. I'm thinking about picking him up in fantasy.

Most 1st round draft picks are crap anyway(especially that late), better to get something guaranteed than to take a chance on something that going to suck 75% of the time.

I'm loving it after drafting Hasselbeck and being the only person willing to gamble on Branch in our draft. I stole him in the 11th round and it looks like it may pay off. It may take him a little while to adjust to the west coast offense but I expect him to make an impact sooner than later.

cool, now how about trading for an offensive line before Hasselbeck gets killed.

Agreed, but who do you replace? They say womack is good enough to start on most teams...Jones and Tobeck are both veteran pro-bowlers, and Gray and Locklear are pretty solid too.

There is no need to replace anyone.

Seattle ALWAYS plays like crap the first game. They have the worst opening day winning percentage of any team in the NFL. If those problems follow them into week 2 I'll be worried. For now, I'll take the rare opening day win in whatever form it came and move on.

Next week is Arizona. If THAT D-line get any penetration or if Alexander can't rack up 100 yards, then you'll really have something to worry about. Otherwise, they should shake things out and stomp the Cards.

At least we robbed the Seahawks of a 1st round pick

I guess it's good to be optimistic. Seattle doesn't need draft picks because they are a veteran team in their prime. Besides, if Seattle goes deep in the playoffs again they'll get a late first round pick anyway.

I guess this trade was good for both teams.

Edit: The only thing that I'm questioning is the spot on the roster for Branch. Is he going to replace anybody? Or will they just rotate? I'm not (and haven't been) sold on Jackson yet, so hopefully they replace him (if anybody). Jackson seems to lose steam midway through the 2nd quarter 🙁
