It's definitely a good move on the Pats' part. They didn't want to pay him, so they got a 1st round pick in return. They are stocking up on the draft picks because they think there are going to be a group of good players in the next year's draft.

As for the Seahawks, as long as they go deep into the playoffs, they made the right move. They have a Superbowl caliber team, so the season will tell if they made the right decision. If they do not go deep in to the playoffs, then they just traded away a great draft pick, and they are paying Branch big #1 WR money who didn't help, and overall, they would be screwed.

True, but Branch could also be good trading bait for a good player the Seahawks need to fill in a weak spot that will undoubtedly show up here in the next few weeks. Not sure what that position might be.

They had a balanced offense last year, too. I'd say adding Branch is better than Juravicious last year, but overall their offense still takes a hit with the loss of Hutchinson.

Branch is a completely different caliber player than Juravcious. Juravicious is not as great a reciever as he looked like last year. His entire career shows that last year was either a fluke or he was just in the right system at the right time (i.e. everyone was playing the run against Seattle). Branch is on a different level.

branch is a completely different reciever than JJ.

branch runs good routes and uses speed to get open. JJ was a size-reciever, body positioning. will be interesting to see how the hawks will use their new weapon

The Seahawks are morons. Stallworth was traded for a 4TH ROUND PICK. His numbers are comparable to Branch. But hey, I'm not complaining :D

The guys at ESPN disagree. But hey, I'm happy, you're happy...and we don't have to compete for a spot in the playoffs, so....

Did they give up too much for him? Yes, in my opinion. Is Branch better than Stallworth? Considerably, in my opinion. Also, Stallworth was traded for a 4th rounder and Simeneau, who is a half decent linebacker (started for the eagles when they went on their championship runs).

In the end, I think both teams were stupid in this trade. The Pats gave up their ONLY threat at WR, the Seahawks gave up too much to get him.

But the Seahawks aren't in need of rebuilding with a young team through first round draft picks. Yes, it's great to have first rounders...but Branch is an established WR in his prime, and a first round draft pick is more often than not likely to be a bust in the NFL.

How are you going to resign some of your upcoming free angents with all that money devoted to the WR position? (Burleson's contract, Branch's contract, Jackson's contract)

I'm not sure how many they need to resign. Losing Hutchinson freed up a lot of money and Alexander has already been taken care of.
