Some of our teams need new members to increase their rank or even maintain their position.
Can you help by thinking of ways to recruit new members into TeAm AnandTech? And posting them here?

My idea is for the reviewers of the Weekly Buyer's Guide to add another catagory - DC Computers.
Or at least do one in depth review of the most economical and/or efficient computer for the different projects.

Many new people would learn about our TeAm and become involved.
And we would find out which processor/system works best for each project. (I want to add a cruncher, but don't have much $$)

That sounds like a great idea, promotion without it being blatant. Maybe a link in each review to the dc home.

Recommending a stability check using dc projects instead of the same old traditional choices would be a good starting point.

Yep, running F@H or SETI, etc. for years on end is the ultimate stability test. Take that 24 hours of Prime95!
 
I propose writting a "virus" type program that automatically recruits people to team AT. 🙂

I have little problem recruiting ppl to join UD, everyone knows someone that had cancer.
 
One of the things that attracted me to AnandTech in the very beginning was the way they suggest components for systems based on your needs.

Currently I believe they recommend basic cost efficient systems, small office boxes, and gamers. It would be nice if they also suggested a cruncher for just doing DC that would give you the most bang for the buck.

I have a feeling they probably wouldn't want to create a 4th category but it would be most useful.

Even if they would just include a few more DC TEST RESULTS in their evaluations it would bring DC some great publicity. 🙂

I think is should be promoted more on the main site. Maybe an article that explains and describes each project. Or use more DC projects as benchmarks for computers in reviews. Or have a big banner promoting TA 😉

Or we can all add, in big bold letters, JOIN TEAM ANANDTECH at the end of our sigs.
 
I sent in a request a couple of months (?) ago to have the front page link go directly to the DC Forum.

With the help of our "Friendly MOD" we can pretty much do what we want to the Welcome Thread.

I'd like to redesign that Welcome Message. If, at the very top of that Welcome Message, we had each project listed with no more than one or two links to offsite web pages that would introduce them to the project and tell them how to join the TeAm. That would serve as a quick-click conduit. We could still have a "recruiting" type message area as we have now but the top INDEX w/links would serve as a table of contents.

Anyway, it's an idea I've been knocking around. If we could get that AnandTech Front Page link directly to the DC Forum and then all of us help make that Welcome Message as good as we can we'd be much better off. Heck, just getting people to look at our DC Forum is about all we would need for there is always something going on. 😉 🙂
 
I have a good idea: How about we nicely ask the mods to add a Join Team Anandtech stickied thread to each forum on these boards? Could get a lot of people interested who might not have heard of it.
 
I'm a pretty new active member of Team AnandTech but a good way to think about recruiting might be to take a poll of current members and see how they came into contact with TA. Through the process of learning about how current members were recruited you may learn about effective ways of getting some new blood.

For example, I became a member of TA because of there involvement in the Chessbrain project. I joined the TA chessbrain team because of an invitation by someone in their forums. After one day of looking at the TA forums I saw how active and friendly everyone was and decided I would help what little I could to other projects.

I added a link in the sig of in my personal e-mail...so now everybody I mail...can get to know about TA. 😀
