During my summer vacation, I observed the following:

It was cloudy on 13 different days, but never cloudy for an entire day.
Cloudy mornings were followed by clear afternoons.
Cloudy afternoons were preceded by clear mornings.
There were 11 clear mornings and 12 clear afternoons in all.

How long was my vacation?

I can't figure this freakin thing out. Any ideas on how to do it?

The vacation was 18 days long.

6 days: cloudy afternoon + clear morning
7 days: cloudy morning + clear afternoon
5 days: clear morning + clear afternoon

18.

Cloudy Morning + Clear Mornings = Cloudy Afternoons + Clear Afternoons.

x + 11 = (13 - x) + 12

x = 7, thus total vacation = 11 + 7 = 18.

<< i agree with 24.. although im not super sure... >>

I was actually doing the math in my head and then I thought, what if the whole day were clear. So I'm going with 18.

it's 18.... just add 13 + 11 + 12...... and there is one morning and one afternoon each day.... so added together they equal 36, and divide by 2, 18 :)
