Wow, some nice rigs. I just ordered a new cusotm job, but it's not in yet so I can't speak
to the speed. Anyway, it's:

Asus P5N32E SLI Deluxe
Conroe E6400 (which I'll be OC'ing, naturally)
2gb Corsair XMS2-800
EvGA Geforce 7950 GX2
2X-160gb SATA 300 HDs, probably in RAID-1
Viewsonic VX-922
The usual other accoutrements, DVD R/W, etc...

My current rig is in my sig, but it's gotten flaky lately. Lockups and random shutdowns.
Figured I'd use the excuse to build a new one, but found I could get it assembled from
an online retailer for almost as much as it'd cost to buy the parts (Or I could probably
have saved more if I really shopped around, and used coupon codes and the deals forum
here, but I got lazy)

I'll just throw my WinXP Pro on it (hope the re-activation isn't too much of a pain).
Once I get some benchmarks, I'll post them.

Nice stuffs.... 🙂

I'm going a similar route. Recently some investments paid-off well for me, so a new rig is in the works. 😉

So far I ordered:

2GB Patriot PC2 8000 + XBLK

PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW

X6800 Extreme

Of course, Newegg does not have the X6800 at the moment.... The ABIT AW9D-MAX I have to wait awhile on.... As well as a X1950 XTX CrossFire setup. 🙁 It seems like when I have the $$ together, I can't just grab everything at once... :disgust:

EDIT: The X6800 just came available early. 😀 Time to hit the submit button....

i notice you have 4 raptors they be a bottleneck trying to force that much data thru the pci

Better to get a raid card

I did benchmarks between some cards, and the onboard NForce RAID performed better than the my 64-Bit SATA RAID Controller. Seems to be fast enough.

Too bad I parted the system out on ebay to go with a highly overclocked x6800 setup. Oh yeah, Corsair 1066Mhz, 7950GX2 Quad-SLI, and X-Fi FTW. Heheh

Bragging rights aye? Penis contests... gotta love'em. hehe 😀

I don't have the fastest computer... but I have the LOUDEST!.

2 - Peavey PR10's powered by QSC USA900 (240w/ch)
1 - 15" subwoofer also powered by QSC USA900 (bridged 900w @ 8 ohms)
4 - Infinity SM82 for surround
1 - Infinity center channel speaker
Infinity speakers powered by Yamaha 7.1 HT reciever (110w/ch * 7)

This sound system is used 3 fold.
My PC (music, gaming...etc)
Home Theater (120" screen projection)
My Synthesizer.

I'm telling you, this thing is LOUD.... and sounds GOOOOOOD. 🙂

The only picture I have of this
The Amp rack is sitting on top of the Sub. I took this a while back for a home theater forum. Some guy wanted to know what I mounted my PR10's on.

I have an old rig around here that is the SLOWEST.

CPU: Intel Pentium 2 450MHz @ 504MHz
Motherboard: I don't even know (no VGA output...see GFX)
RAM: 256MB (2 x 128MB) PC100
GFX: S3 Trio 2D/3D 8MB (doesn't do 3D) (useless) (sits in AGP slot)

This system went through major upgrades to get to this point.
I'm sure someone out there has something slower.

So you overpaid for RAM, and went with QUAD-SLI which offers almost zero performance benefit over SLI? Congrats! 😛

I have a slower one, a Mac from 1990:
Motorola 68030 32mhz, no FPU
4MB 16mhz memory
160MB hard drive
512KB unknown video card
2X CD drive

It still works and has tons of great games on it. 😀

Nice rig! Sounds like you had fun building it too.

I've just been building systems for other people to get my fix. Biding my time with the rigs in my sig till Core 2 Quad and the DX10 cards come down in price a little (i.e. after the short supply inflated prices fade). Currently @ 1280x720 I don't need much right now in terms of power for gaming. I've been eyeing one of those Dell 30's though as a replacement to the 27" ... 8800GTX (or two) might be needed for that beast.

My slowest computer is my TI-89Titanium calculator, with a 13mhz processor, 2.7mb storage and 188k of ram. It is faster than the computers we used to land men on the moon.

my sempron 2800+ @ 2.4ghz destroys everything. 🙂
on a serious note though, wtf do you need dual 285's for?

is this a home pc? if so.. that is just ridiculous.

Mac Pro w/ 2x 3.0 GHz Dual-Core Woodcrest
4 GB PC5300
ATI Radeon X1900XT
2x Western Digital 5000YS RE2 500 GB

It took a lot of years, but I finally acquired my dream system.

I'm sitting comfy for now. Upgrading doesn't make much sense right now with the G80 coming in Nov. Funny part is I didn't know the 7950s were even out that long. My "accent" 2.4Ghz 3000 Winchester is starting to show it's age. Though I am thinking the G80 will alleviate most of the bottlenecks Ive been seeing in games.

My other problem is my 430 watt Antec. It's a whole 2 years of age and I don't know if it can keep up with the latest and greatest. So I either upgrade in a few months with a Conroe system, or wait for the K8L.

I hope you enjoyed my post with my own personal rationalizations which mean nothing to you.

Have a great day!!!
