NewEgg RMA is straight up garbage.

That's all I gotta say about that from my Experience.
It's easier to go through it with the manufacturer than jump through hoops with Newegg.

Since you own a computer repair business, have you never made a mistake with a customer's computer? Have you ever had a customer get upset at your level of service?

You said yourself, you have done over 30k in business with them, and have rarely had problems, and when you did they fixed the problems. So now, one bad experience, and you are ready to drop them all together?

Hopefully this gets worked out.

OK, I will try to resolve it one more time.

Sent a PM to NeweggSupport with a link to this thread.

I will keep this thread updated until the outcome.

NewEgg RMA was straight up excellent in my one experience.

Defective video card RMA a couple of years ago was painless and fast.

I have ordered pc parts 4 different times from various online vendors since I first started this thread.

3Btech, Mwave, and Starmicro. All parts arrived very quickly as ordered in good working condition. The prices were comparable to newegg, actually a few bucks lower.

The world continues to turn without newegg, just as I am certain they haven't missed my business. I plan to keep it that way permanently.

Well, grats everything worked out for you. As i never personally received bad service from newegg, ill still be using it, but i will be more cautious.

yup. There's zero loyalty in the computer hardware business, one of the few reasons I closed my place.

Update!

Brand new card arrived from Sapphire yesterday.

Same exact X1900GT rev2. Put an aftermarket cooler on it and proceeded to overclock it.

Stock was 513/1314 now running 585/1710 voltage at default, 64c at full load.

Funny how this thread got moved to "brag and moan" under "Hot Deals"?

Too many newegg loyalists to support or perhap it was "accidently" moved?

Hmmm, if it was moved by mistake I guess it wouldn't be a problem to put it back under "Off Topic" without being attached to another thread title?

Is this just my own mistake or has OfficeMax screwed up? Here's what happened.

Last Friday I received an email promotion from OM inviting me to preview their new website. As an inducement, there was a $25 off $100 coupon code good only for Saturday. One of the specials listed on the website was the SimpleTech 160 GB USB drive for $79.99. I went through the item description and was certain that it was the portable harddrive (spiffy red USB case containing 2.5" notebook drive, 5400RPM) that usually goes for $30-$40 more so I ordered one along with an SD memory card to reach $100 to use the coupon.

The package arrived yesterday and to my surprise and disappointment, I received the SimpleTech 160 GB USB External drive which is much larger containing a standard 3.5" 7200RPM drive, certainly not portable and also no deal at all.

When I went online, I could no longer access the URL included within last Friday's email. I then went to OM's regular website and found only SimpleTech 160GB drive portable drive. The larger 160GB "external" was not even listed. As I read the invoice closely, I noticed that the item numbers were the same except for the last two digits, one ended with an "01" and the other was "10".

I then called up OM customer service and explain the situation. They said that the error was on my part and that the item number on the invoice matched what I had received which would have been pulled from the website. I told them that the item number may match what they sent but did not match the description of what had been listed on their website. I was certain that what was listed the portable drive, regardless of what the item number may have been. My belief is that OM screwed up but can't prove it because I can't access the information the webpages (they couldn't pull it up either). They would not exchange for the portable drive so I am returning everything, including the SD memory.

Did anyone else receive this offer and go out to the trial website? Did anyone else see the SimpleTech deal and confirm one or the other if it was the portable or the larger "external" drive listed?

Hot Deals is not the place for this.
I will put in the brag and moan category.

:Disgust;Back in July I bought Radeon 9550 videocard from newegg with a $15 rebate. Didn't get the rebate from Powercolor after 8 weeks. Checked with the website they were saying I didn't send the original reseipt which I actually did. Wrote to them an email offering to fax a copy. Unfortunately they didn't seem interested and were extremely rude and insulting. Will never again buy from powercolor.

Got mine today. The necklace was in a little baby blue mesh drawstring bag inside a maroon Overstock envelope which said it was a "A special gift from us to you."

It's pretty nice quality if I do say so. I'm definitely impressed for a buck.

My order already shipped. I actually placed the order before this post was even made b/c I saw it over at SlickDeals.

I actually didn't pay a dime b/c I'm a Club O member, so I got free shipping. So you can't argue with $0.00

Yes, I can clearly see why would someone that makes as much money as you claim to, would be interested in such a deal... :frown:

Unless your quote is based on a 10 mins. work days.

Uh, ~$110/hr, while much, isn't exactly an unheard of amount for many professions.

More than likely, however, his number was probably made up on the fly as a general indication that $1, in the grand scheme of things, probably isn't a large enough amount of money to enter into a deep analysis of the value and worth of the product.

In short, take your frowning face and pissy attitude, and go be a Type-A dick elsewhere, mmkay?
