Just went to the Gamestop across the street from work and put down my $5 for a pre-order, and got the beta code printed on my receipt. It says online that if you pre-order it and get the beta code, then you can't cancel, but I bet I'll still be able to move my $5 at that store to something else if I want to in the future.

My key worked, however I did get the "invalid key" initially. The first time I typed it in, I used uppercase letter as printed on my receipt, complete with the dashes and everything. Got the invalid key. The second time, I typed all letters in lowercase and omitted the dashes, and it worked perfectly fine.

It's possible I mistyped the first time, I don't know, I didn't check. But that was my process.

oh I didn't see that part, I thought maybe there was a screwup with their system because I got a confirmation email with no code

So I was just calling EB's customer service number to check on my key, and the first thing the recording says is "if you are calling about your starcraft 2 beta key, please be advised that electronic delivery may take up to 24 hours, please do not contact us until 24 hours have passed" or something. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to call

Pick a race and start watching replays. Emulate what good people do and you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

the best i've heard so far is when you click on an SCV and he says "what? you run out of marines or somethin?"
