Bra or braless?

AnyMal

...for my new van that is. Gotcha! 😀 Seriously though, is there any benefit to a hood bra? Just got a new 2003 Caravan for my wife and wondering if it's a worthwile investment.

LOL!

Damn, I admit.. you did get me.

I don't mind the way they look. Aren't they to protect the front of your car from rock chips, etc?

The only time I go with a bra is when I'm planning on putting some highway miles on my car or tracking it. I never leave it on though. I considered getting a clear bra, but it's kind of expensive and I'm not sure that I'd like it. I don't know how it would hold up and if it would annoy me that I could see it on the car. I'd almost rather touch up a few chips or have the front end repainted (by someone I trust) after it got bad enough.

It appears most here feel the same way about bras on cars as they do on women.

Well, maybe besides some of the "fugly" sentiments. 😛

OK, I should clarify; I couldn't care less about the looks, I bought the darn thing cause we have to haul 2 kids and their stuff takes up a lot of room (think strollers). So to all of you who are here to flame the van, you're wasting your time.

Eli - yes I want to avoid the damage from road gravel and such. I was also considering installing a regular shield.

well after time the area around the bra will fade whereas the area under won't

so, your hood will look like ass anyway

Dude, not one person here has said anything at all about the van. The simple fact is that car bras look gay on any car, truck, van, train, plane, or tank. Don't get one.

EDIT: Well, aside from tweakmm

Like I said, I don't care about the looks, that's not why I asked.

Thanks to all who posted practical comments.

Well, for a "family" car(esp. a minivan) Bra might not look SO bad, I would say go either way is cool. Come to think of it, imo minvans are the only types of cars that look alright with bras...

ALSO:
althought the bra will keep rock-chip etc off your hood, if you dont properly wash your car, sand/dust will get underneath and do a number on the paint. that in addition to the fading, i say just forgo the bra.
