Boycott nVidia? :)

the X850XT's are £299.95+VAT.....thats a total of £352.44 which in $$$ is $656.69 and they ship world wide and they are getting them in in 1-3days

That was my thought as well. Both companies are doing a crap job of getting their new cards out. But Nvidia is doing a slightly better job and unlike ATI they are not flat out ignoring the AGP segment of the market.

No, boycotting extremely high demand products isn't going to do any good unless everyone does it: And they won't, because those products are in high demand.

America doesnt abide by our VAT laws, so they dont have it, i dont know if they have some other taxation law, but it should cost about $560

What information are you basing this opinion on? The release of the Asus SLI board has driven a huge demand for PCIe 6800 series cards. A demand that has not been met if will read any of the many threads to that effect in this forum. Very few PCIe cards are available and those that are come with unreasonable price tags. Case in point, you can go to Best Buy right now and purchase a BFG 6800GT OC AGP card for $399.99. Please provide for me a link to anywhere in the US that has a BFG 6800GT OC PCIe for sale at any price. (EDIT: and by for sale, I mean in stock and shipping.) Yes, you can find some XFX 6800 series PCIe cards out there. Frankly, I'll wait. There are even fewer eVGA 6800 series PCIe cards out there at even higher prices. But, there are far more AGP based cards available for purchase. As far as low end AGP parts, there are also plenty of the 6600 series AGP cards on the market.

Big OEMs give them more money than we do, and so get preferential treatment for the smaller supply of these cards.

ATI, luckily, just gets off clean with several paper launches.

Dell, Compaq/HP, IBM, etc etc. This is where the greatest percentage of PCI-E cards are going.
These OEMs are ATI and Nvidia's bread and butter when it comes to market share. Those OEM's come first. We get whats left and it's not much.

They don't care right now, they both know DX 10 and Longhorn will be a huge upgrade. They are focusing on those things in there new cards.

The only thing I mentioned that you didn't was that OEMs get the parts quicker (they are usually willing to buy more, and pay more before they even get them off the assembly lines), which is always true.

...and it will be here in 2008 with fewer useful features than I want. Not to thread hijack, but I don't see Longhorn being a major upgrade, especially with WinFS no longer in the main consumer release.
