Arizona Boycott Goes Viral As State's Tourism Industry Tries to Fight Back
http://industry.bnet.com/travel/10005845/arizona-boycott-goes-viral-tourism-tries-to-fight-back/
The American Immigration Lawyers Association notified JW Marriott in Scottsdale that it will cancel a 300-plus person event, saying, “We didn’t feel it was appropriate to have a meeting in (the) state.”

Yah, way to go you soft-headed politicians and your feelgood knee-jerk reactions. That'll show them, perfect example of liberals acting on their feelings instead of thinking things through.

My guess is they'll feel vindicated when they get pulled over and questioned for their "papers".

weird place Arizona, I ve been there in a Indian tour and they treat you like a shit, in Sedona I saw a truck full of mexicans and who was driven, the only white man. Even indians are so poor and isolate it in the state. Hey is the Grand Canyon, have you been there? and you call yourself American.

It is ironic that this boycott gained steam in San Francisco yet their own immigration policy (breaking from federal policy - what it criticizes AZ for) directly resulted in the assassination of an entire family.

did it? was it immigration policy alone? the only factor involved? there was no way this would have happened without their immigration policy?

Yes, it was their "sanctuary city" policy which resulted in the person being released instead of being turned over to the INS.

Had the illegal been turned over to the INS, the Bologna family would still be alive.

Couldn't the same be said for the "sanctuary city" policy of not deporting blacks? Deporting an entire group of people for being undesirable, morally, is just that, why not deport poor people en-mass?

before you argue the law: The law is what we make it. We could just as much deport Mexicans as we could make law to deport blacks.

The law is not an argument of truth, only a fallacious appeal to authority.

Unless can get past race and make yourself not see everything through the eyes of a racist then you can't really contribute anything to solving the complex issue of immigration.

Throw race out the window and use the argument for deportation used time and again:
Affluence and education.

This is the tacit argument made, not that race is important, but that poor stupid people need to be kicked out of the country. The only legal difference between deporting every stupid-ignorant person and just those who recently arrived is a change in the law;

Morly they are equivalent.

Not quite. Yes, every nation has the right to set its immigration policies and education/wealth (ie, the ability of an immigrant to be a productive citizen) plays a part... as do many other factors you ignore.

There are multitudes of reasons to limit and discourage illegal immigration. Isn't that obvious?

Never thought right wingers would be so upset over the free market at work

You're an idiot.

It's watching idiots upon idiots upon idiots around this country doing the stupidest things. Makes me sad. Protesters are planning to rally outside of Wrigley Field tomorrow because *gasp* the Arizona Diamondbacks are playing the Chicago Cubs in baseball! As if the Diamondbacks or MLB have anything to do with the immigration legislation.

Compare to the anti-Happy Meal legislation which you complain up a storm that everyone should just shut up, accept the law, and vote them out in the next election. Do you say the same here? Nope. Because you're a "progressive" I'm assuming? I'm not boycotting Santa Clara, nor did anyone suggest that either, as far as I'm aware.

Yes, but there are is a multitude of reasons to have an open-immigration policy, thus eliminating illegal immigration.

Seriously, think about this:

If the choice is between:

(A) Mexican drug trafficking and violence wreaking havoc across the state terrorizing the citizens
-or-
(B) A few douchebags from San Fransisco decide not to travel to Arizona

hmmm, tough choice here, I think this boycott really has a chance of succeeding...
