Boy needs his ass whooped.

Very, very tragic. 🙁

This happened in Texas, so won't this make him a prime candidate for capital punishment?

i've spent so much time on the dark side of the internet that these stories don't phase me anymore. i have been desensitized because of it.

That's good, I hate getting phased, falling through floors and shit.

Whatever, if I were omnipotent despot I'd give the kid six months of rehab/12 step/whatever to get his shit together, then his next DUI (forget DWI) would be the chair. Everyone deserves a chance, but second chances are a luxury when a fuckup means others dying.

Why make such a big deal out of that tweet? If he hadn't posted anything before the accident and it still happened, is it somehow less of a tragedy? Thousands, hell probably millions, of idiots get drunk and post stupid shit on Twitter and no one gives a shit about it because they don't follow it up with a DUI vehicular manslaughter. The tweet means nothing.

I have trouble properly articulating my thoughts concerning people who do that sort of thing, where their own desire to enjoy themselves directly and carelessly endangers the lives of other people. The thoughts tend to lead to ideas of some rather Draconian ways of handling drunk drivers.
In driving drunk, you've demonstrated that you place more value on servicing your drinking problem than you do on the life of everyone else on or near the road. Given that, if convicted by the proper legal process, I see no pressing reason to place anything more than an equally minimal value on the life of such a person.

shows extent of drunken state.
And helps bring in page views.

OK...this waste of genetic material is further proof that some folks just need to be systematically terminated with extreme prejudice.

I'd prefer literally neutering them (make them infertile) and forcing them to live however they can, without suckling the government's tit (i.e., no tax dollar expenditure, after some jail time).

The accident happened right in front of one of my closest friend's apartment complex. She texted me about it right afterwards when her and her boyfriend went out to see what was going on. The article was light on details about the survivors of the crash in the other car, but apparently they don't think one of those girls will ever walk again.

Remove testicles and penis, both eyes and one hand. Leave him unable to reproduce or drive.

And maybe remove half of his liver, so that if he drinks again, he could kill himself.

That or probation depending upon affluence as madoka stated... Hopefully he won't come up under District Judge Jean Boyd who thinks that teenagers that kill 4 while driving drunk after stealing beer needs rehabilitation not prison.

Drunk drivers should face the same penalty as murders when they kill others. This whole lets slap them on the wrist, is absolute bullshit. If I got drunk and decided to go on shooting spree, I would end up in prison for a very long time (or dead).

Yet these people do the exact same shit, but instead of a gun they use a vehicle.

It's telling people "If you drive drunk, you're not a nice person. But it's ok, we'll forgive you. Just try not to kill too many people while you're out and about."

And then some of them try to make it out like it's no big deal.
"Well of course I crashed. I was drunk. What would you expect?" I'd expect you to have the basic decency to feel sufficient guilt that you'd kindly kill yourself after recklessly taking or destroying another person's life.

I also can't help but wonder if the minimal punishments stem from those who are a part of the judicial system, whether on the bench, or in the jury if the case even even goes to trial, or even those making the laws in the first place, can't help but think to themselves, "Hell, I've driven drunk more than a few times. I guess it's not that bad if someone else does it."

Drunk driving causes horrific accidents, often with the victims good people, but politicians drink and the liquor lobby is strong, so few places have effective drunk driving laws.

When I was growing up a drunk driver killed three sisters walking home from school. How does a family live with that happening?

He had a chance, he could have listened any of the 100s of times he has been told in his life not to drink and drive because it is dangerous. This wasn't an accident, he chose to get behind that wheel and now a woman and her son are dead.

Eye for an eye, kill him then bring him back to life and kill him again.

I did the telecom wiring on your friends apartment when they were being built almost 15 years ago. 😛

Now I work around the block from there. I hadn't seen the news, but when I drove to work that next Monday it was obvious that a bad accident had happened there. The pavement is gouged at least an inch deep in several long marks.

Supposedly he was going 80-100mph there. That's just insane for that section of 620.

I thought it was a interesting that he tweeted "Slangin" (slang word for swerving the car while driving to look cool). Can't imagine someone trying to drive like that drunk lol. Wonder if he was "slangin" when going 80-100 before rearending the Prius.
