We had a meeting today where they announced a new, tiered pay structure based on the type of equipment you work on.

Given that we are located in a somewhat rural area, there isn't much more than level one or level two stuff here.

Our manager told us all we qualified as level one pay tiers. That was cool, we understood that.

Then he announced the salary range of level one. There was a long moment of silence, and I asked, "So you will be cutting our pay?" I'm the lowest tenured of the group, and thus the lowest paid, and my salary is $4,000 a year more than the maximum.

They won't be cutting our pay. But then again, we won't be getting raises. Ever.

Four of the five of us are now looking for jobs elsewhere, biding our time till we can find something. The other guy is approaching retirement age, so he doesn't care one way or the other. When we all quit he'll simply retire and find a part-time job to bridge him until he can draw on his retirement.

Jesus. Seven years of busting my butt for this company, two moves across the country - and they pull this garbage. Unbelievable. God forbid our executives give up their millions of dollars in bonuses. :|

No sh1t. I'm sick of executives and all their bullsh1t about cutting jobs as they collect their HUGE salaries and bonuses. If they can't make the company make money, then they should be the first ones to get the cuts.

We have an online BBS where they post jobs. There are five jobs posted throughout the entire company. They are all tier 1 positions.

Wow, that sucks, I'm sorry man. Best of luck to you! Just think, it would be a year till you would have gotten a raise anyway, so you have a year to find a new job before they are really stiffing you.

This is why I am avoiding the real world for 5 more years as I go to grad school.

That sucks. Dead end jobs are never good. Can't believe they made that announcement, but I guess they'd have to.

Our company is not giving any pay increase to ANY executives... instead they are giving ALL non-executive employees in the Americas a 3% raise. Not bad considering the amount of employees here.

We actually were supposed to get raises in June. Not anymore I guess.

Still a lot of 914s there? :)

Sorry to hear about that. We had a similar situation years ago at IBM.

Telling your employees that there is no chance of ever getting a pay raise is not a particularly wise move. They exec who made that decision isn't worth 2cents.

He currently makes $4,000 more than a person would be making working as a tier 1 employee. He's grandfathered in, though, so his pay won't be cut.

Welcome to the real world.

They can double your workload, halve your salary & make you balance a water glass on your forehead while you work.

If you don't like it, you have the right to quit.

One of my buddies just called me. Word percolated up to the top pretty quick, looks like they're sending the district (think Bill Lumbergh in terms of personality) manager up on onday morning to have a talk with us. Lot of good that spaghetti-spined admin weasel will be able to do. :disgust:

Heh, dang, I've already got a line on another job. Ye Resume be out . . .

That combined with the meeting Monday worning with Lumbergh, my attitude is definitely on the upswing.
