Boy allegedly hits mom with saw, offers her $5

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) ? Authorities say an 11-year-old boy hit his mother in the head with a saw and then offered her $5 not to call police. The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office reported that the boy and his 41-year-old mother got into an argument Wednesday when she was trying to get him to take his medication.

The boy left and went to another home, where he began hitting a tree with a saw. When the mother finally caught up with the boy, authorities say he hit her in the head with the saw, causing a minor laceration. A sheriff's report said that's when the boy began pleading with his mother not to call police and offered her a $5 bill.

The boy is facing an aggravated battery charge.

Guaranteed he never hits anyone with a saw again after the lockup.

the mother probably felt scared and threatened and called the police. not saying her parenting is top notch, but we really don't know that part of the story.
 
In the beginning of the article they mentioned she was trying to get him to take his medication. I wonder what it is? I bet it's for a developmental delay or a mental disorder of some kind.

Sounds like the kids disturbed. Maybe he's mental and doesn't know any better. In that case I take back what I said. The kid needs to be controlled if he can't do it himself. Cops don't help much in these cases.
 
It all started when being strict and smacking your kid to discipline them became illegal. I hope child services have a big fucking budget.

I mean, he was hitting a tree with a saw... it takes a special kind of person to not know how to use a saw correctly.

It's relevant. Discipline (which isn't just physical, but about authority) is important. It doesn't necessarily mean that the parents are at fault, but that's usually the case. Undisciplined kids (and people in general, actually) end up doing whatever they want. Which can be crazy stuff like looking up how to make explosives on the internet and attempting to set cats on fire.

The fact that she called the cops, rather than being able to discipline her son herself, is not a good sign.
