Why even bother drawing an age line?
I don't think they should jail him for life...death penalty sounds better.
If we assume he is guilty, the whole sentencing is going to rely on whether a 12 year old can form mens rea. The issue with sentencing children as adults is whether they can form the intent necessary to commit the crime. If the kid was say 16, then I'd say yes definitely sentence him as an adult. A kid that young... you're starting to get into a vary grey area.
I was thinking the same thing as I was reading the article.a flimsy case. There is plenty of reasonable doubt.
He would have *tried* anyway using another method. Knifing, clubbing, or smothering is a lot less effective for a 11 year old than a shotgun. No, we don't need to do that here. If he was intent on killing her he would have anyway, a knife, a club, smothering, etc, etc.
😕fuck you CNN
Well....that's unfortunate. Probability of a positive contribution to society resulting from his continued existence in that manner: not much.If convicted, Jordan, now 12, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Great... 2 life sentences for a 12yo.
I read that the average inmate cost is $25k/year.
He will be in prison for ~60 years.
$40k/year (estimate based on inflation) * 60 = $2.4 Million
OR
Put him in juvy for 6 years.
$25k/year * 6 = $150k
The justice system is retarded.
He would have *tried* anyway using another method. Knifing, clubbing, or smothering is a lot less effective for a 11 year old than a shotgun.
Whats the reason the police claim him as the murderer?
Jordan then left the house as if nothing had happened and caught the bus to school with Houk's 8-year-old daughter, police and relatives said.
The girl later told police what Jordan had done.
"She didn't actually eyewitness the shooting. She saw him with what she believed to be a shotgun and heard a loud bang," said Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo.
Houk's body was discovered that morning by her younger daughter, who had just celebrated her fourth birthday the night before.

faces "grown up" murder charges? Why not use "adult murder charges". Or maybe "Big boy murder charges"
tldr. Punish the parents as well.
fuck this little piece of shit kid, I hope he gets the book throw at him and never sees the light of day.
She was found with a bullet in her head...yet a shotgun was the murder weapon.
The editor of this article should be shot.
