Boxed Desktop Boards

Hi Guys

I want to buy a Intel motherboard, as I am building my computer.

Intel has got Desktop Boards and Boxed Destop Boards.

What does these two mean and what is the difference between them.

Which one of them is better with regard to performance.

If it is oem vs. retail there is little difference. However the boxed bpards has a three year warrenty vs. one for OEM.

If you plan on doing any overclocking don't get the intel board. Doesn't overclock well.

If you want to be able to tweak the memory timings for higher performance, or if you want to overclock, a third-party board would be a better idea.

edit: oops, what he said ^ 😉

No performance difference but the Boxed are retail with a 3-year warranty. You might also get more accessories like cables and the metal I/O shield but I'm not sure about that. Price difference is usually less than $10 at good vendors like Newegg.com so you might as well by Boxed / Retail.
