Box of stuff from the ex girlfriend....

Stuff I gathered over the three years we dated .... presents we gave each other, things she made for me, collages, letters, etc. etc.

My friend thinks I should just trash the ******. I kinda agree. What's the point of being that sentimental over something that no longer matters?

We are thinking of going tonight before bed and throwing it out at a dumpster.

What are your votes?

if so, yeah trash it...if it was just a mutual "this isn't what it used to be" thing...i'd probably keepit

Well, we fell apart in the last few months, and then she led me on for 5 months. Its been a messy break up for me because it pretty much ruined my year (I was hooked on her for MONTHS while she was moving on finding the guy she's with right now).

I've got some other prospects now but she meant a LOT to me (she was my first, etc.), so sometimes I think it would just be good to forget about her. We still talk online sometimes but its usually when I initate it.

hhahaha ya i do that to. I look @ some of my old crap, and laugh at it, and show it to my friends on how stupid i used to be . it's just funny material, and reminds me of who I was, and howI got to become who I am right now.

Agreed. You need to be able to get over looking at that stuff and getting teary eyes. If it brings emotions back, great, learn to deal with it, but if yo uneed to trash it, then sorry, you're just weak. I used to think that I should just burn everything, but I'm glad I didn't. Now I can look back and laugh and it embarasses me at times that I did such stupid things, but hey, I'm glad I went through certain things and I'm glad I can look back and go "Haha, well at least I won't be doing something like that again."

Just put it in storage where you can't get to it easily. Otherwise, if you really really can't stand to have it in your possession, at least sell the stuff through an ad/ebay/a pawn shop.

my mom saved a lot of love letters from past men in her life, and it reminds her of her youth, mistakes, lessons learned, all sorts of stuff. i find myself doing the same thing and recollecting experiences with past gf's, why it didn't work out, personality differences, stuff i shouldn't have said or done, or maybe stuff that i should have. it also reminds me of how young and gullible i was and how i still am.

It's what I do. It's a good sense of closure.

I agree that in a couple of years, you'll be able to (or you should be able to) look back on those things and reminisce w/o any negatives feelings. I remember that after breaking up with my high school g/f of 2 2/3 years, we had a platinum band that I had bought her to deal with...neither party wanted it, but at least she could sell it if she wanted. Don't know what she did with it, but I kept very little from that relationship. (Bad breakup, and I'm not much of the kind to keep stuff even during a relationship).

I just don't think you will regret it later in life if you keep it. you will have the option to get rid of it anytime. but if you trash it now, you will probably regret it later in your life. it is irreversable. it is a piece of your past, learn to deal with it.
