Box of coffee was half empty

So Sunday I went shopping at Target.

I have a Keurig coffee maker and needed some K-Cups for it.

I bought a couple boxes and took them home. I opened one box of Gloria Jean's Hazelnut and found there was only 11 of the 18 cups inside the box.

How odd. The box was sealed. How does that get past quality control?

Since I'm missing $3.88 worth of coffee, I went back to Target yesterday to exchange the box.

I'm happy to report that the gentleman at Target allowed me to swap out the box, but not without a few huffs and puffs and dirty looks. And do you know what? I don't blame him!

How is he to know that I didn't open the box and pull out 7 K-Cups to keep? I'm not so much upset at Target for being treated like crap, but mad at Gloria Jeans for putting me in the position of having to return a half empty box of coffee. 🙁

You like the Gloria Jean's K cups?

We have a ton of different types of those at work -- hazelnut is pretty non-offensive, but there are some other specialty GJ flavors that are just ridiculous. Most of them are too sweet or strange for me.

I can kind of see why the Target guy might be suspicious...but common on, seriously, driving all the way back to the store (i.e. gas costs), to "scam" a couple bucks worth of coffee? Does he seriously think someone would do that?

Those K-cups make my mornings at work way too complicated... we've got like 8000 different roasts of plain black coffee, and maybe one flavored one, nasty ass shit like southern pecan or some crap. Screw K-cups.

I'd send a message to Gloria Jean's telling them what happened. They just might want to know and they might be willing to offer you something for your trouble. You never know.

Yeah, the southern pecan is one of the flavors that's just too sweet for me. They have a bunch of other flavors that have no place being in coffee imho. I prefer my coffee and pastries separate, thanks...

I actually prefer the taste of slow drip-brewed coffee, so I usually just use the coffeemaker at home before heading to work. I might top off with a few cups of the K brewed stuff at work though.

The Hazelnut is quite "non-offensive". It's good for the non-coffee lover, like my wife. I get them for her. I sort of gotten away from the flavored coffees in favor of Caribou's Daybreak and Morning Blend. Unlike other company's "Breakfast Blend", the Caribou actually has really good flavor without tasting over-roasted.

I wish we had a Keurig at work. We have a regular automatic drip and the food service company leaves bags of pre-measured Folgers. It's baaaaaaaaaaad. I've had Folgers at home (I also have an automatic drip for when I run out of K-cups) and it's NEVER tasted as bad as this stuff at work. I don't get why there'd be a difference. 🙁

All we had at my old job was Folgers. Depending on who made it and their inablity to put in the proper amount that stuff could be wicked. Only at one very specific ratio would it be drinkable.

I bought a Moka the other day and a can of Illy espresso coffee to go with it. I never bought llly before since I never saw it in the US, but it comes in a pressurized tin. Well, me not bothering to read the big ass lettering on the top of the tin, I just popped the tab and started to pull back the lid and a thick spray of finely ground coffee erupted into the air as the vacuum seal was broken.

Sigh, item #3458 that I am no longer allowed to have in the house.

LOL...what are some of the others?

I am under specific instructions that I can't bring any more critters home. Unless I find a midget cow.

My history with bird baths has not been pretty and honestly I was only cleared for hot liquids rather recently.

I am addicted to the Tullys "Full City Roast" k-cups also the "Nantucket blend" and the"lake and Lodge" from Green mountain... damn now I want another cup. To keep it on topic I bet if you contact Gloria Jeans they will offer a coupon or something, I had a short box of "Caribou blend" awhile back and the place I ordered it from coffeewiz.com sent a free box so I ended up way ahead, a small plug here for them as they are quick and if you order 5 boxes shipping is free.

There's no excuse. These are PRE-MEASURED BAGS! You're supposed to just open the bag and dump it into the filter. ALWAYS tastes horrible.

FTR: I dropped an email to Gloria Jeans. Let's see what that accomplishes.

Exactly how do you screw up a bird bath?

I buy my k-cups from jimmyzeescoffee.com, they used to charge $7.95 per box of 25, but now charge $8.45/box, still the cheapest around, they have very limited selections, but good enough for me. Free shipping with over $50 purchase. let me know if anyone else found a cheaper place than this one.

Nice find! Thanks!

Sure, all they have is Gloria Jean's and Diedrich, but that's a great price for 25 cup boxes!

Now mind you this was when I was toddler but my mental maturity has not advanced since then according to most independent observers. We had a stone bird bath that was in two parts, the bowl rested on top of the pedestal, and I managed to pinch my thumb between the two parts and get it ripped open. So that's scar number one that runs the length of the pad of my thumb.

I bought a case of nice rootbeer that came in dark glass bottles. It turns out one of them is only 2/3 full. I'm saving it, still closed up and am taking it back. I have no clue if they'll take it back but if its worth a try.

I'm happy to say, I have no idea what a K-Cup is. Are they those individual cup portions that come sealed in a filter?

Yes.

And I heard back from Gloria Jeans. They basically said "return it to where you bought it from" even though I said in my email that I had already done that and got a very cold reception. Oh well.

That is a great price!!!! I wish they had a bit more variety but I bookmarked it for later.

Thanks

I like my coffee like the content of my soul. Black as the night

Illy's pretty good stuff, see a lot of it in Israel.

I've got a Senseo, it's alright. The clubhouse at my apartment complex has a Flavia, THAT thing kicks ass.
