I suck at bowling... period... I just suck... my mentality is to pick the heaviest ball, and roll it slowly and hope its weight knocks down the balls.... BAD....

Anyways, I have to play at 9... and I don't want to look like a total freak getting gutter ball after gutter ball! (which is inevitable already I'm sure ;))

Was wondering if there are any tips to make myself even a little bit better, thanks!

I find that it helps to follow those 3 little markers right near where you let go of the ball

let it go right down the middle marker and see if it's easier than aiming all the way down

that works for me....course i'm usually drinking at the same time....:)

Try using a ball that is a little lighter, try to avoid bending your wrist when you release the ball, and aim for the 2nd or 3rd arrow from the center (either left or right side depending on which way and how much the ball curves). Hope this helps a little. Have fun bowling.

When I started bowling and bowled a straight ball (I'm right-handed, btw), I'd start toward the right side of the lane and let the ball roll over about the 2nd or 3rd arrow from the right. The ball would angle into the pocket and, missing any hook due to rolling straight, I wouldn't get many strikes but got a lot of 8 and 9 counts.

Switched to a reactive resin ball in my last years of bowling and moved left a bit and let the ball do the hooking and shot my avg up to 192 :) But...that's been at least 5 yrs now.

So, if I'm right handed... I should just aim to roll it straight down the 2nd and 3rd arrows RIGHT of CENTER? Will it always hook left and end up towards the pins? Is there a chance that it will hook too much and end up towards the RIGHT gutter or even LEFT?

Keep your eye on the ball!

Step into your swing!

Become one with the ball (by eating it.)

USE A LIGHTER BALL.

The weight of the ball has something to do with it, but so does the force at which the ball hits the pins. Kenetic force is spread to the pins from the ball. That's how the pins fly all over the place. I use like a 10lb or 12lb ball so I can launch that muther and look like I know what I'm doin.

If you buy a reactive resin bowling ball, for the love of god, make sure that you put a slug in the thumb hole! If you don't, you're thumb might swell to the size of a grapefruit. Trust me. I know.

There's always the chance. Depends on if you swing your arm across your body or not. You don't want to or you'll be in the gutter quickly. Just let the ball roll off your hand smoothly and keep your thumb up...sort of trying to cup your hand around the ball a bit....when you let go...your hand is almost like you're going to shake hands with someone :)

first pick a lighter ball and make sure the little 3 holes fit nicely. especially the hole that you put your thumb in.

If you are bowling a straight bowl.. no spins.. I would stand 2 or 3 dots on the left of the center dot or keep your right arm align with the center dot. For me I stand about the 2 or 3rd dots and lined up on the line that is the furthest line from the pins (since there are 2 lines of dots) and I would take off with my left foot first so by the time i walk to the line my left foot would be in the front while my right arm swing out.

I was told that keep your arm straight and to aim just aim with your thumb.

I am okay at bowling avg about 150..

Never had that problem. I had inserts in the finger holes, though.

<--- :Q Platinum? cool.

anyone have any good tips on curving/hook shot? Basically I was told you use only 2 of the holes, not the thumb one. Toss and spin it. lol, my success rate of it actually curving back in and striking is 50% lol
