I was at the local pro shop looking for SST6's (shoes) and they were selling for $189. I found them online for $98 at Bestbowling.com. Might not be a great deal for everyone, but they have really good prices on many other things too.
although i'm not interested in the shoes, they do have some good prices on bowling balls.....i could have saved a good amount of money here....let me know how you order turns out.....
i got my purple bowling shoes at a local bowling alley for $20. they were on clearance hell... people laugh at my purple bowling shoes, but i do the laughing when they get raped for shoe rentals
One thing to remember when buying a bowling bowl online is you still need to get it drilled by someone who knows what they are doing. That usually involves the initial drilling and possible adjustments (filling/redrilling or simple shaving of the holes for comfort). Make sure you get someone to agree to drill a ball you didn't buy from them. Some places won't do it.
The prices on the balls are pretty good. The problem lies in the drilling. Most of the bowling centers I bowl at will charge $45 to $60 to drill a ball that didnt come from them. It isnt worth it if you are buying a cheap ball. Now if you are going to buy a ball that is new on the market it is well worth it. As for the shoes, I only buy mine on the internet. If I have time today I will give you links to several other good bowling equipment sites.
Yah, balls are a different story. I'd buy mine locally and have someone who knows how I bowl help me choose a ball and drill it. Most local pro-shops will take you out on the lane and watch you bowl and help you choose a ball.
Bags and shoes on the otherhand will be bought online beacuse of the huge price difference.
I don't know about Best Bowling but I bought from Bowlzilla back in December and I have no complaints. I bought a Roll X2 and I love this bag. Saved a bundle. They shipped it really quickly. Don't hesitate on ordering from Bowlzilla.
Stay away from All American Bowling. I tried ths company and they gave me the run around for two months after I placed my order. They finally issued me a refund when I treatened to call American Express.
for sure...always buy bowling shoes...even if you bowl 4 to 5 times a year, it's well worth it. I bought my shoe for $50 (expensive...but comfortable)...7 years ago and if I calculated all the money i would've spent on rentals it would be a few hundred dollars (i bowl alot).
I bought a couple of balls over the internet and got them drilled locally for only 18 bucks each + a few bucks for fingertip grips. Shipping was pretty reasonable too, only like 20 bucks or so.
You can golf and smoke at the same time. I've seen guys on the Senior PGA stand over putts with a big cigar in their mouths.
