Bowling for Columbine ROCKS!

here is the article
linky

"The Writers Guild of America, which represents U.S. film and television writers, on Thursday picked nominees for 2002's top screenplays including for the first time ever a documentary, "Bowling for Columbine," in the best original movie script category."

I love this film!🙂

Informative me thinks.
I'm glad you and others are using a passive word such as "informative", which implicitly does not indicate one way or another the quality of the information being provided. Informative means 'providing with information'.

Other "informative" things:

George Bush is a space alien <-- information

Osama Bin Laden is the head of a peace-advocating organization <-- information

A square has four sides <-- information

Information can range from absolute garbage to absolute truths. Since you have used a word which does not speak or admit of any qualitative nature, I won't have to totally destroy every premise or piece of information which Moore makes in his film as I have in a few other threads without challenge or dispute.

And thank goodness for that, cuz it gets pretty tiresome after awhile.

Just watched it today, I guess it's ironic that I also had 6 hours of tactical handgun instruction. The number of gun-related deaths in the U.S. compared to other countries is staggering. I would have to agree with Moore's premise that a lot of it has to do with the "fear marketing" that goes on every day.

tscenter, I will search for those other threads you mentioned.

Just saw it, great film, hit the nail on the head. Stupid white men indeed.

What nail did he hit regarding "stupid white men?"

The only point he made the entire movie is that our culture is fueled by fear, and that cultures that ARENT, dont have as many murders (period, I refuse to believe that the existence of guns really makes THAT big of a difference on cold blooded murders)

It was definately entertaining, but thats all it was. It wasnt that informative to anyone who pays attention anyway, and it was a WHOLE lot of muckracking and diversionary tactics.

yeah, thought it was great. loved the face off with the kmart execs.

the end part with charleston? heston was really funny, i think he pretty much crapped in his pants.

When I realized he would have an interview I was fearing the worst. (The worst being Moore just being an ass). I was very surprised and impressed that Heston agreed to an interview. The interview started out O.K. and then just became a groaner for me. I'm not a supporter of the NRA but I was impressed with how Heston handled himself.

< BUMP > for a movie which every person reading this should go out and see 😉

Saw it... didn't think it was as good as everyone said.

Just to clarify myself here, didn't really mean to convey the message that I thought the movie was 'good' or 'bad' when I stated that everyone should go out and see it.

The movie was Informative, (hey tcsenter, you like that one right? informative 😉 ) Information any way you want to take it in, point being is that it makes the viewer....think. Wether or not you agree or disagree with the information is not the point IMO - just as this thread does, using your mind and thinking and forming critical opinions is a good thing.

What a horrible movie. I couldn't even finish watching it. The guy compares the worst cities of America to Canada. He makes a short cartoon that is horribly inaccurate and puts down America so bad. This guy is a complete moron.

you guys need to click the link in the other michael moore thread. most of the crap in that movie was far from the truth. he edited speeches given by people to make them sound completely different. he is a bastard and should burn for being so stupid (and getting people to see his damn movie, thus making him lots of money!)
